JMBF-JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France Objective:
i. To provide legal aid and legal counselling to community members through their respective organizations as well as in centre;
ii.

The JMBF is an independent non-profit, nonpartisan human rights organization registered in France with registration number W931027714 under the association law of 1901, dedicated to defending human rights, fighting for justice, and empowering communities in Bangladesh and beyond. To organize seminars, workshops, symposiums, rallies, human chains and view exchange meetings on various human rights r

elated issues and attending such programmes organized by others;
iii. To provide training especially on paralegal and human rights aspect to community organizers as well as conduct a summer course on human rights for university graduates and law enforcing agencies;
iv. To promote legal & human rights literacy, which includes translating and publishing handbooks of law in layman`s language and a training manual on human rights;
v. To establish a human rights documentation and information centre to ensure exchange and dissemination of human rights violation;
vi. To publish a weekly "Law Corner" in a popular magazine, with cartoons to simplify legal problems and to respond to inquiries about legal problems for those who need legal advice and cannot receive it;
To conduct lobbying, campaign and advocacy activity to protect and promote human rights in national and international level;
vii. To conduct research on legal and human rights aspect as well as conduct fact finding and issue urgent appeal/action regarding violation of human rights;
viii. To build up institution as well as human rights defender in community level;

ix. May engage in income-generating and profit-making activities for development youth capacity and environmental sustainability including poverty reduction. But none of the income and/ or profit shall be distributed to the Trustees who shall render voluntary service and the income and the profit will be utilized for implementation of the vision and mission of the organization.

🔹 Ensure criminal accountability if the allegations are proven.
🔹 Provide effective remedies, compensation, and rehabilitation to the victim.

Founder President of JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF), Advocate Shahanur Islam, is honoured to speak at the General Assembly of the International Observatory of Lawyers at Risk (OIAD), to be held on 17 June 2026 in Rome, Italy.

He will address the ongoing crackdown on the independence of the legal profession in Bangladesh since August 2024, highlighting the growing challenges to the rule of law and the independence of lawyers.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Every person deserves dignity, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, language or religion.

🌍 We urge 🇮🇳 India and 🇧🇩 Bangladesh to respect international law and established bilateral mechanisms.

📢 We also call upon the UN, OHCHR, EU, and international human rights mechanisms to support an independent, impartial, and credible investigation into these allegations.

🚨 URGENT APPEAL: JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) and the International League Against Arbitrary Detention (ILAAD) have filed an urgent appeal to the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention regarding the arrest of 49 individuals, including 17 children, following a peaceful political rally in Noakhali, Bangladesh on 5 June 2026.

The detention of children and peaceful participants raises serious human rights concerns. We call on the UN and international community to act urgently.

JMBF calls for the immediate release of all those arbitrarily arrested, the withdrawal of politically motivated cases, and an independent investigation into these allegations.
