Researchers at Durham University discovered a rare 520-million-year-old larva fossil in China with its internal organs fully preserved, offering new insight into early arthropod evolution.

Named Youti yuanshi, the specimen is linked to modern arthropods such as crabs, spiders, insects, and centipedes.

Scientists used advanced 3D imaging to reveal its miniature brain, digestive glands, circulatory traces, and nerves connected to its legs and eyes.

Lead author Dr Martin Smith said he had long hoped to find such a specimen, calling the preservation “jaw-dropping.”

🚨 বাংলাদেশে এইচআইভি/এইডস আক্রান্তের হারে উদ্বেগজনক বৃদ্ধি! 🚨

​গত এক বছরে বাংলাদেশে এইচআইভি/এইডস আক্রান্তের সংখ্যা উদ্বেগজনকভাবে ৩৯% বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে। যা অত্যন্ত গুরুতর একটি জনস্বাস্থ্য বার্তা বহন করে।

​গুরুত্বপূর্ণ তথ্য:

​নতুন সংক্রমণ: ২,০০০ জন।
​মৃত্যু হয়েছে: ২০০ জনের।
​ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ এলাকা ও গোষ্ঠী:
​নতুন আক্রান্তদের প্রায় অর্ধেকই হলেন পুরুষ যারা পুরুষের সাথে যৌন সম্পর্ক স্থাপন করেন (MSM)।
​সবচেয়ে বেশি আক্রান্ত হয়েছে: ঢাকা, কুমিল্লা, চট্টগ্রাম এবং খুলনা।

​বিশেষজ্ঞরা জোর দিয়ে বলেছেন, সংক্রমণ নিয়ন্ত্রণ করতে এবং ২০৩০ সালের মধ্যে জাতিসংঘের এইচআইভি লক্ষ্যমাত্রা অর্জনের জন্য এখনই প্রয়োজন:

​সহজলভ্য উন্নত চিকিৎসা (Treatment Access)।
​ব্যাপক জনসচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি।

Liverpool Hospital in Sydney’s southwest introduced Australia’s first MRI machine using cryoablation to freeze tumours without invasive surgery.

The technology inserts a gas-powered needle into tumours, freezing targets into iceballs and killing cancer cells.

Patients recover in one day versus traditional surgery. Grandmother Josephine Cordina, 64, suffered serious pain from a nine-millimetre spine tumour requiring painkillers to sleep.

Instead of invasive surgery with screws supporting her bone, she used the new MRI machine.

She woke up pain-free the next day. Dr. Glenn Schlaphoff says the machine also treats soft tissue tumours in the liver and kidneys.

The hospital received a nearly $1 billion upgrade including a new 2027 cancer centre.

S*x, or even just intimate touch, could help speed up wound healing – but perhaps only if combined with a nasal oxytocin spray.

Often called the “love hormone” or “cuddle chemical”, oxytocin stimulates uterine contractions during childbirth, and then lactation, but has also been associated with social bonding and s*x. Previous research suggests it also speeds up the healing of oral ulcers, possibly due to its anti-inflammatory effect.

What’s more, hostility between couples has been linked to the slower healing of blisters, which prompted Beate Ditzen at the University of Zurich in Switzerland and her colleagues to wonder if a lack of oxytocin during these interactions could at least be partly mediating this effect.
