l. Vialisa complements what is already being done by other organisations in Dhaka. This is done by using a method that achieves better results in the short term and also has a long-term effect in terms of opportunities for the future of the youth. We make this happen by using a method that brings better results in the short run and also positively influences opportunities for the future of the younger generation. The objective of Vialisa is to support excluded youth between 15 and 21 years old by:

Providing practical vocational training to youths aged between 15 and 21 to increase their chances in the job market;

Place them with companies that do not exploit them or assign them to hazardous work;

Providing them with a mentor whom they can consult for career guidance;

Conducting medical examinations and assisting them with medical issues;

Offering budget guidance and teach them how to save for emergencies;

Supporting them with mediation in issues at home and/or with the employer.

To find the right ones, we head downtown and rummage through piles of discarded saris, carefully selecting those with beautiful prints and colors, and only minimal spots or tears, ready for a new life.

What we witnessed today is pure devastation.

The trained First Aid Responders from Vialisa are continuing to support those injured with burns and cuts, and will do so until proper medical assistance from other NGOs arrives.

After that, our focus will shift to helping our Vialisa students who have lost their homes begin rebuilding their family lives.

A large fire broke out in Korail tonight.

Our school is safe, but many of our students and former students have not been so lucky.

In the middle of the chaos, we’re grateful that our First Aid Responders Programme is already making a difference. Several of our graduated students are on the ground right now, helping treat cuts, burns, and other injuries.

The full extent of the damage will only become clear tomorrow in daylight.
For now, our thoughts are with everyone affected, and we will continue to support the Korail community however we can.
