HOPES is a benevolent organization that has been established to extend financial assistance economically less privileged students from various disciplines of public universities and other institutes of Higher Education. Every year many meritorious students meet all the requirements and qualify for admission in the desired course but cannot continue their studies due to the financial condition of t
heir parents / guardians. Many of the meritorious students selected for admission in medical colleges or public universities facing difficulties to get good results only for the financial crisis. In 1995, BAU professors were inspired to form a Nobel organization to help such students. They spontaneously decided to go to their friends and colleagues and started raising funds. The “huge response and enthusiasm” from various quarters for financial support inspired teachers and their friends working at BAU. They took the initiative to form an organization to provide scholarships to financially indigent and meritorious students in an effort to realize their dream of pursuing higher education. They later formed an organization called “Helping Organization for Promising and Energetic Students” (HOPES) at a formal general meeting held on March 11, 2000 at the BAU campus. This organization has already been registered with Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms, under the Ministry of Finance, Govt. of the Bangladesh as non-profit, non-government and non-political Philanthropic organization under the Societies Act 1860 (XXI Act of 1860) (Registration No. S-4197/ (299)/4) in the name of HOPES Society.
