Something big just got signed. โœ๏ธ

Machine Learning Bangladesh is now officially in a strategic partnership with Her WILL โ€” a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit championing women's leadership in AI, data science, and STEM worldwide.

What this unlocks:
๐ŸŽ“ Joint fellowships, bootcamps, datathons & hackathons
๐ŸŒ Global mentors, speakers, and international opportunities for our community
๐Ÿ›๏ธ Deeper reach into campuses and underserved regions across the country

Stay tuned. ๐Ÿš€

๐Ÿš€ That's a wrap on Build with Gemma

What started as a call for AI builders became our first hybrid hackathon; planned and launched in a single week, and run over four intense days.

The numbers still don't feel real:

๐Ÿ‘ฅ278 students registered across 82 teams from 42 universities, spanning every corner of Bangladesh. 137 entrants made it to the starting line. 74 pushed all the way through to a working prototype. In the end, ๐Ÿ“47 projects were submitted, โ–ถ๏ธ38 of them live on Kaggle โ€” all built on Google's Gemma models. ๐Ÿค–

๐Ÿ”ดSix problem tracks. Zero generic chatbots.

Bangla language access ยท whiteboard-to-notes vision AI ยท rural healthcare diagnostics ยท offline, on-device study tools ยท autonomous transit agents ยท voice-first bookkeeping for local shopkeepers

Teams built for flooding and disaster response, crop and farmer support, illegible prescriptions, study sessions interrupted by load-shedding, and the language barriers millions here navigate every day. Problems that matter here.

๐Ÿ† Congratulations to our winners

Online Track: Disha / เฆฆเฆฟเฆถเฆพ (Tupiwala) โ†’ BoardSnap (Semicolons) โ†’ Borno (Turtlers)
Offline Track: Krishi Bondhu (Rebuggers) โ†’ GeniAI for Good (Ghurte Aschi) โ†’ NoteKori (Team Ascent)

None of this happens on its own.

Thank you to our judges โ€” Shaiful Islam, Tansif Anzar, and the faculty from UIU; who gave real time and real expertise to every single submission. Thank you to the IEEE Computer Society UIU Student Branch Chapter for making it happen on the ground. And to the Gemma team and Google for Developers: open, on-device-capable models are exactly why students here could build serious solutions on modest hardware and unreliable connectivity. No excuses needed. Special thanks to Shuvro Pal for his contribution in making this happen.

Most of all; thank you to every participant โค . Track winner or not, you showed up and you shipped something real. You proved what happens when local talent works under intense pressure they can still ship impactful projects.

This is just the beginning. ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฉ

There not a whole lot of people participating online. If you just want to let someone have 1000$ just donโ€™t participate but if you want a portion of it do register anytime during the hackathon time today.

Weโ€™re not just looking for Google related speakers. Weโ€™re looking for good speakers.๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

ML Bangladesh is calling for volunteers ๐Ÿฆธ practitioners across AI/ML who want to present to a room of students and early-career professionals in Bangladesh (or join remotely) and teach them hands-on, practical skills, something useful.

Right now, weโ€™re running Build With AI with Google, but our community doesnโ€™t stop there. Whatever youโ€™re building, whatever stack youโ€™re on, if you can make it click for someone just getting started, we want you.

This is volunteer work. We donโ€™t make money. Our organizers donโ€™t either. But if growing the next generation of ML practitioners in South Asia matters to you, the formโ€™s right here ๐Ÿ‘‡
