In line with the Greening Education Guidelines, Eco-Schools have been carrying out a variety of environmental protection activities based on their Eco Committee’s plans, maintaining alignment with academic lessons and examination schedules. As part of these ongoing efforts, a special event was recently organized at Sher-E-Bangla Nagar Government Girls’ High School. The programme featured insightful discussions on the importance of ecosystem restoration and the actions required, an open dialogue on the significance of planting native trees in appropriate locations, an environmental awareness quiz competition, and the planting of native flowering, fruit, and medicinal trees within the school premises. The event also included the exchange of eco-friendly gifts, creating a vibrant and meaningful atmosphere throughout the campus. This inspiring initiative was jointly organized by the Lions Club of Dhaka South, District 315-A1, Bangladesh, Lions International, and Eco-Schools Bangladesh. A large number of students, teachers, esteemed members of the Lions family, and representatives of the Eco-Schools Bangladesh team participated in the event, shared valuable insights and experiences, and contributed to making the programme truly impactful. It is worth mentioning that the Lions Club kindly expressed its commitment to continuing support for Eco-Schools in organizing similar initiatives in the future.
গ্রীনিং এডুকেশন গাইডলাইন অনুসরণ করে ইকো-স্কুলগুলোতে সাধারণত ইকো কমিটির পরিকল্পনা অনুযায়ী পাঠ্যসূচি ও পরীক্ষার সময়সূচির সঙ্গে সামঞ্জস্য রেখে পরিবেশ সুরক্ষার বিভিন্ন কার্যক্রম পরিচালিত হচ্ছে। এরই ধারাবাহিকতায় সম্প্রতি শেরে বাংলা নগর সরকারি বালিকা উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়ে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে এক ব্যতিক্রমী আয়োজন। অনুষ্ঠানে পরিবেশ পুনরুদ্ধারের গুরুত্ব ও করণীয় দিকসমূহ নিয়ে আলোচনা, উপযুক্ত স্থানে দেশীয় বৃক্ষরোপণের প্রয়োজনীয়তা বিষয়ে উন্মুক্ত আলোচনা, পরিবেশ সচেতনতামূলক কুইজ প্রতিযোগিতা, শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানে দেশীয় ফুল, ফল ও ঔষধি গাছ রোপণ এবং পরিবেশবান্ধব উপহার বিনিময়সহ নানা কার্যক্রমে মুখরিত ছিল বিদ্যালয় প্রাঙ্গণ। লায়ন্স ক্লাব অব ঢাকা সাউথ, ডিস্ট্রিক্ট ৩১৫-A1, বাংলাদেশ, লায়ন্স ইন্টারন্যাশনাল এবং ইকো-স্কুলস বাংলাদেশ-এর যৌথ উদ্যোগে এ আয়োজন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানের উল্লেখযোগ্য সংখ্যক ছাত্রী, শিক্ষকমণ্ডলী, লায়ন্স পরিবারের সম্মানিত সদস্যগণ এবং ইকো-স্কুলস বাংলাদেশ টিমের সদস্যরা আয়োজনে অংশগ্রহণ করে বিভিন্ন পর্বে নিজেদের অভিজ্ঞতা ও মতামত বিনিময় করেন এবং আয়োজনটিকে ফলপ্রসূ করে তুলতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেন। প্রসঙ্গত উল্লেখ্য যে, লায়ন্স ক্লাবের পক্ষ থেকে ভবিষ্যতে এ ধরনের আয়োজনে ইকো-স্কুলসকে সহযোগিতা প্রদানের আশ্বাসও প্রদান করা হয়।
