One in eight people in the country, i.e. more than 20 million people, cannot afford to buy nutritious food. And more than half of the people of the country cannot afford to buy balanced food. Because of this they are dependent on rice, bread and less nutritious food. On the other hand, the nutritional situation of women in the country is still very alarming. One in three women aged 10 to 49 do not get enough nutritious food.
On the other hand, a large number of people are lacking in essential nutrients due to lack of financial capacity. Meeting the nutritional needs of adolescent boys, girls and the elderly is largely neglected. Younger girls suffer from nutritional problems. With this, they are exposed to health risks such as child marriage and pregnancy.
With the aim of bringing nutritious and balanced food supply within the affordability, Gramshop and Digital Gramsheba jointly initiated the project "Affordable".
Initially, road side sales of the project have been started in Dhaka's overpopulated, low-income people and student areas. Online and offline sales activities will be started gradually through various stalls or pickup points.
