RCOY APAC 2026 is a YOUNGO-recognized, youth-led regional climate conference bringing together young people, youth organisations, academic institutions, researchers, policymakers, and partners from across the Asia-Pacific region to strengthen regional youth priorities, collaboration, and collective climate action.

SHISUK is a national NGO working on community development and sustainable agriculture in Bangladesh since 1994. The organisation has developed community-based approaches to livelihood development, including its pioneering community collective enterprise model for floodplain aquaculture, known as the Daudkandi Model.

Recognised nationally for its contribution to community-based floodplain enterprise development, the Daudkandi Model was also selected as a SAARC Best Practice for livelihood development in 2007.

SHISUK works on sustainable agriculture, aquaculture, food safety, community livelihoods, and grassroots advocacy, while collaborating with government, academia, civil society, UN agencies, and development partners to promote inclusive and sustainable development.

Its commitment to community-led development, sustainable livelihoods, food systems, grassroots participation, and environmental resilience closely aligns with the vision of RCOY APAC 2026.

We are honoured to welcome SHISUK as a Resource Partner and look forward to strengthening collective action towards a more inclusive, sustainable, and climate-resilient Asia-Pacific.

From Conversation to Collective Action: Amplifying Youth Voices for Climate & Gender Justice

Climate change is not gender-neutral. In Bangladesh, extreme weather, displacement, and economic vulnerability directly accelerate systemic risks for young people—disproportionately affecting adolescent girls through increased rates of child marriage, school dropouts, and gender-based vulnerabilities.

As part of LCOY Bangladesh 2026, the Youth Leadership for Climate Action (YLCA), in collaboration with UNFPA Bangladesh, is participating the national consultation on:

"Climate Change, Child Marriage & Gender Justice"

This cross-sectoral platform brings together grassroots youth leaders, civil society advocates, and community representatives to:

Unpack the intersections between climate vulnerability, displacement, and gender inequality.

Center lived experiences from frontline communities into policy dialogues.

Formulate concrete, youth-led priorities to directly inform Bangladesh’s Country Youth Position ahead of global climate negotiations.

Youth leadership must move beyond consultation to active decision-making. Together with UNFPA, we are turning lived realities into actionable policy demands—ensuring climate resilience actively safeguards human rights, equity, and the future of every young person.

Sectoral Consultation on Action for Climate Empowerment | Pre-LCOY Bangladesh 2026

On 16 September 2026, the Sectoral Consultation on Action for Climate Empowerment was held at the United Nations House, Dhaka, as part of the Pre-LCOY Bangladesh 2026 Cross-Sectoral Workshop.

The session brought together youth leaders, advocates, and cross-sectoral stakeholders to examine key priorities, share field-level perspectives, and bridge critical dialogues around climate empowerment and education systems. This consultation marks a foundational step toward formulating Bangladesh’s Country Youth Position Paper for LCOY Bangladesh 2026—ensuring the document directly reflects the grassroots realities, insights, and demands of young people across the country.

Youth Leading Climate Action (YLCA) is proud to be a Partner Organization for LCOY Bangladesh 2026. Representing YLCA, General Secretary Tipu Sultan is serving as the Co-lead for ‘Workshop and Capacity Building’ on the LCOY Bangladesh 2026 Organizing Committee.

On September 16, 2026, the LCOY Bangladesh 2026 Organizing Committee convened at the United Nations House in Dhaka. The meeting brought together the Contact Point, Leads, Co-Leads, and committee members for strategic discussions on upcoming activities and collaborative frameworks aimed at delivering an impactful youth-led platform for climate action.

Hosted by Brighters Foundation under the auspices of YOUNGO, LCOY Bangladesh 2026 continues to mobilize youth leaders nationwide to shape actionable climate solutions.

Youth Leading Climate Action has been placed in the Water for Prosperity subcommittee (Interactive Dialogue B) of the Youth Organizing Committee under UN MGCY and the Global Youth Movement for Water — part of the youth process ahead of the 2026 UN Water Conference in Abu Dhabi.

Water for Prosperity covers exactly where our work already sits: agroecology, food security, and climate-resilient livelihoods. This gives Bangladesh's youth a direct channel into that conversation.

Youth Leading Climate Action (YLCA) is proud to announce that our General Secretary, Tipu Sultan, has been appointed as the Co-Lead for Workshops & Capacity Building for LCOY Bangladesh 2026.

As Bangladesh prepares its Country Youth Position to represent national priorities on global climate platforms, structured capacity building is vital. In this role, Tipu Sultan will spearhead technical training sessions, policy workshops, and grassroots youth mobilization to ensure that emerging climate advocates are equipped with the negotiation tools, policy literacy, and strategic knowledge needed to drive concrete outcomes.

YLCA remains dedicated to strengthening youth leadership, advancing climate justice, and ensuring grassroots realities inform national policy frameworks.
