almost every other week, someone asks me:
“how the h3ll did you go from 1200s to 1530 on your own?”
(short answer: brutal honesty, better resources, and Desmos.)

long answer:

1. learn from your damn practise tests. go through all the questions you got wrong, and even ones you got right but were confused and note them down along with how you could improve.

for example, one of my students missed a vocab question because he skipped a key word.
what should be his next step? finding out why he missed it (lack of focus/anxiety) and what he can do instead (be mindful, read slowly and careful).

2. close knowledge gaps, aka learn topics/concepts you don't know. this is where the resources come to play. erica meltzer's books are a goldmine but skip the poor exercises.

college panda is out-dated too, yet the practise probs are goated.

but the most under-rated tool? ✨desmos✨ you better learn it well 🔪

3. practise. practise. practise. use oneprep.xyz by our very own Abdullah Mallik: best practise site, hands down. don't forget to use bluebook for real test simulation tho!!

but i'll be real. this post barely scratches the surface.

This was me in elementary school—still confusing the UK and the USA, but somehow already sure I wanted to study in the U.S.
I had no family there. No roadmap. Just a far-fetched dream.

Some days ago, that same kid got into Bryn Mawr College, one of the most selective liberal arts colleges in the U.S.—and the first university in the world to grant women a PhD.
And she’s going with enough financial aid that her middle-class family can actually afford it.

I didn’t get lucky.
This was my second time applying.
The first time?
I didn’t get into a single liberal arts college I could afford.
But this time—I knew things I didn’t before.
I had help from mentors. From friends. From well-wishers.
