⚖️ LEGAL-TECH HACKATHON 2026

Digital Legal Aid for Future — Building Justice for Every Citizen

The Daffodil Legal Aid Wing is pleased to announce the upcoming Legal-Tech Hackathon 2026, organized under the Accelerating Digital Legal Aid Services in Bangladesh (ADLASB) Project.

The hackathon brings together law, technology, innovation, and social impact to develop practical solutions for improving access to legal aid and justice in Bangladesh.

📌 Calling All Daffodil Legal Aid Wing Members

All members of the Daffodil Legal Aid Wing who are interested in participating are encouraged to come forward and form their teams.

👥 Team Formation Guidelines

Each team must consist of:

• Minimum 3 members
• Maximum 5 members
• At least 1 Law student
• At least 1 CSE/Computer Science or Software/IT background student
• At least 1 female participant

⭐ Special Advantage:
A team will receive 1 additional point in the final evaluation if the designated Team Leader is female.

🎓 Dedicated Mentoring & Guidance

A dedicated mentor will be arranged for each participating team, providing guidance, feedback, and necessary support throughout the preparation process.

🤝 Team Formation Support

Those who are interested in participating but are unable to form a team are requested to contact us. We will assist interested participants in forming suitable teams according to the competition requirements.

We encourage all interested members to take this opportunity to combine their legal knowledge, technological skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities to develop meaningful solutions for the future of legal aid in Bangladesh.

⚖️ A Successful Beginning of the Legal Aid Wing

With immense pride and gratitude, we are delighted to share the successful completion of the Orientation Program & Seminar of the Legal Aid Wing, Daffodil Law Club.

The program began with a warm welcome to all members, who were received with flowers and greeting cards, marking the beginning of their journey with the Wing.

The opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Saiful Hoque Sir, Head, Department of Law, DIU, who welcomed everyone and highlighted the importance of practical legal education and legal aid initiatives.

The orientation session was graced by distinguished guests and speakers, including Proctor of Daffodil International University Professor Dr. Shaikh Muhammad Allayear Sir, Dean Professor Dr. Liza Sharmin Ma'am, Barrister Khandker Dider us Salam Sir, Deputy Proctor Mohammad Badruzzaman Sir, DMCS Convenor Sharin Shahjahan Noumi Ma'am, and Keynote Speaker Md. Alamgir Sir, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Bangladesh Judicial Service.

The speakers highly appreciated the initiative of the Legal Aid Wing, describing it as a timely platform and a valuable hub for learning the practical dimensions of law and legal practice. They applauded the enthusiasm of the members and shared valuable suggestions regarding the Wing’s future activities, scope, and impact.

A significant moment of the program was the oath-taking ceremony of the newly appointed Executive Panel Members, conducted by Advocate Ruhul Amin Khan Sir, Convenor, Legal Aid Wing, Daffodil Law Club. Newly appointed members were also presented with their official ID cards and honorary crests, marking their formal induction into the Wing.

The program concluded with a closing address by Advocate Ruhul Amin Khan, Convenor, Daffodil Law Club, expressing gratitude to all distinguished guests, faculty members, members, and everyone who contributed to making the event a success.

This is not merely the beginning of a Wing, it is the beginning of a commitment to legal awareness, practical learning, access to justice, and service to society.

ADR & Mediation Introduced at the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office

The Supreme Court Legal Aid Office has received approval to introduce Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), particularly Mediation, on a preliminary basis.

According to Notice No. 301, issued on 9 August 2026, mediation will initially be conducted for disputes falling under specific provisions of selected laws, with the approval of the Hon’ble Chief Justice.

📌 Laws covered under the initial mediation framework include :

• Family Courts Act, 2023 — Section 5
• Parents’ Maintenance Act, 2013 — Section 5
• Dowry Prohibition Act, 2018 — Sections 3 & 4
• Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000 — Section 11(c)
• The Penal Code — specified provisions
• The Specific Relief Act, 1877 — Sections 8, 9, 12, 39, 42 & 54
• The Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 — Section 138

Mediation can provide a faster, less costly and more amicable way of resolving disputes, while strengthening access to justice and reducing the burden on the courts.

সুপ্রিম কোর্ট লিগ্যাল এইড অফিসে ADR ও Mediation কার্যক্রম চালুর অনুমতি

বাংলাদেশ সুপ্রিম কোর্ট লিগ্যাল এইড অফিসে প্রাথমিক পর্যায়ে Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), বিশেষত Mediation (মধ্যস্থতা) কার্যক্রম পরিচালনার অনুমতি প্রদান করা হয়েছে।

গত ৯ আগস্ট ২০২৬ তারিখে জারিকৃত বিজ্ঞপ্তি নং–৩০১ অনুযায়ী, প্রধান বিচারপতির অনুমোদনে নির্দিষ্ট কিছু আইনের নির্ধারিত ধারার বিরোধসমূহে এই মধ্যস্থতা কার্যক্রম পরিচালিত হবে।

📌 মধ্যস্থতার আওতাভুক্ত আইনসমূহ :

• পারিবারিক আদালত আইন, ২০২৩ — ধারা ৫
• পিতা-মাতার ভরণ-পোষণ আইন, ২০১৩ — ধারা ৫
• যৌতুক নিরোধ আইন, ২০১৮ — ধারা ৩ ও ৪
• নারী ও শিশু নির্যাতন দমন আইন, ২০০০ — ধারা ১১(গ)
• দণ্ডবিধি — নির্ধারিত কয়েকটি ধারা
• নির্দিষ্ট প্রতিকার আইন, ১৮৭৭ — ধারা ৮, ৯, ১২, ৩৯, ৪২ ও ৫৪
• হস্তান্তরযোগ্য দলিল আইন, ১৮৮১ — ধারা ১৩৮

Mediation-এর মাধ্যমে বিরোধের দ্রুত, সহজ ও শান্তিপূর্ণ সমাধানের সুযোগ তৈরি হবে, যা বিচারপ্রার্থীদের সময় ও ব্যয় কমাতে এবং ন্যায়বিচারে প্রবেশাধিকার আরও সহজ করতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখতে পারে।
