বিশ্ব পরিবেশ দিবস ২০২৬ উপলক্ষে, এনভায়রনমেন্ট অ্যান্ড এনার্জি নেটওয়ার্কের (EEN) অধীনে FAO এবং World Food Programme যৌথভাবে কক্সবাজারের ক্যাম্প ৪ এক্সটেনশনে একটি বিশেষ আলোচনা সভা ও বৃক্ষরোপণ কর্মসূচির আয়োজন করে। পরিবেশ পুনরুদ্ধার সাফল্য উদযাপন এবং জলবায়ু-সহনশীল ভবিষ্যৎ বিনির্মাণের অঙ্গীকার পুনর্ব্যক্ত করতে এই অনুষ্ঠানে সরকারি কর্মকর্তা, মানবিক সহায়তা সংস্থা, স্থানীয় কমিউনিটি নেতা এবং রোহিঙ্গা বাসিন্দারা একত্রিত হন।
অনুষ্ঠানটি উদ্বোধন করেন ক্যাম্প ৪ এক্সটেনশনের ক্যাম্প-ইন-চার্জ (CiC) মিসেস সুরাইয়া আক্তার সুইটি। তিনি ক্যাম্পের পরিবেশ রক্ষায় সবাইকে এগিয়ে আসার আহ্বান জানান।

৭৫৬ হেক্টর বনভূমি পুনরুদ্ধার: ২০১৮ সাল থেকে EEN অংশীদারদের উদ্যোগে ক্যাম্পের বিভিন্ন ঢাল স্থিতিশীল করতে এবং ভূমিধসের ঝুঁকি কমাতে বৃক্ষরোপণ কার্যক্রম সফলভাবে পরিচালিত হয়ে আসছে।
২০২৬ সালের লক্ষ্য: বাস্তুতন্ত্রের ভারসাম্য ফেরাতে এ বছর FAO এবং সহযোগী UN সংস্থাগুলো ৪২৫ হেক্টর অবক্ষয়িত বনভূমিতে প্রায় ৫,২৩,০০০টি চারা রোপণ করছে।
কমিউনিটি উদ্যোগ: দুর্যোগ ঝুঁকি হ্রাসের (DRR) অংশ হিসেবে জলবায়ু-সহনশীল বাগান, পুকুরে মাছ চাষ এবং বর্জ্য পুনর্ব্যবহারের মতো পরিবেশবান্ধব উদ্যোগগুলো প্রদর্শন করা হয়।
FAO and WFP under the Environment and Energy Network (EEN) hosted a commemorative event and plantation inauguration to mark the World Environment Day 2026, at Camp 4 Extension in Cox’s Bazar.
The event brought together government officials, humanitarian agencies, community leaders, and Rohingya residents to celebrate environmental restoration and reaffirm our commitment to a climate-resilient future. The event was inaugurated by Ms. Suraya Akter Swety, Camp 4 Extension Camp-in-Charge (CiC), who highlighted the urgency of protecting the camp ecosystem.
Impact at a Glance:
756 Hectares Restored: EEN partners have supported plantation and reforestation since 2018, driving landslide risk reduction and slope stabilization.
523,000 Seedlings in 2026: FAO, with UN partners, is leading the planting of over 523,000 seedlings across 425 hectares of degraded forest this year.
Community Actions: Showcased climate-smart gardening, pond-based farming, and waste upcycling as tools for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
FAO gratefully acknowledges the support of our donors under the SAFE+2 programme and the Bangladesh Humanitarian Fund. Continued investment in Nature-based Solutions is vital to safeguarding lives and landscapes in Cox’s Bazar.
