A world of three zeros begins with a vision.

2006 Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus has long envisioned a world with zero net carbon emissions, zero wealth concentration to end poverty, and zero unemployment by unleashing entrepreneurship in all.

At the 81st UN General Assembly High-Level Event on Social Business, Youth and Technology, Professor Muhammad Yunus reflected on this vision and how the 3ZERO Club initiative is helping young people turn it into action.

Across communities around the world, young people are coming together to create solutions to the social and environmental challenges they see around them. From one idea to one community and eventually to a global network, the journey towards a world of three zeros starts with people choosing to act.

An idea can start small and still travel far.

At the 81st UN General Assembly High-Level Event on Social Business, Youth and Technology, Shazeeb M. Khairul Islam, CEO & Trustee of 3ZERO Trust, shared the story of how the 3ZERO Club initiative came to life and what inspired it.

Today, 7,480 3ZERO Clubs bring together more than 37,400 young people across 67 countries. From working on local challenges to starting community projects, young people are finding their own ways to turn ideas into action.

And this is only the beginning.

The 3ZERO Clubs in Bardagoriya, Nepal stepped forward when people affected by the Bhotekoshi River flooding needed support. Their blood donation initiative was organized to help injured people receiving treatment at hospitals and health institutions.

A total of 73 pints of blood were collected, with 3ZERO Club members taking part in the donation and contributing to support those affected. The effort is a powerful example of how young people can respond to real needs around them. The 3ZERO Clubs in Bardagoriya turned their concern for others into action that could provide direct support during a difficult time.

Their commitment reflects the spirit of the 3ZERO Club Initiative, where young people take action, support their communities, and work towards a better world. 🌍

What can one idea become when you have the opportunity to pursue it?

On 16 September, we explored this question with the young women of Life Project4Youth (LP4Y), one of our 3Z Support Organisations, during a workshop on “Zero Unemployment: Unleashing Entrepreneurship for All.”

We talked about the importance of creating opportunities for young people and how entrepreneurship can help them turn their ideas into something meaningful, while also creating opportunities for others.

The ideas, questions, and perspectives in the room reminded us that sometimes, creating new opportunities simply starts with giving an idea the space to grow.

Our recent 3ZERO Club Information Session at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) introduced more than 140 students to the 3ZERO Club Initiative. 🌱

The students showed great interest in the 3ZERO Club Initiative, asking questions and sharing their thoughts on the three zeros and how young people can contribute to making them a reality. Their active participation made the conversation lively and engaging.

It was encouraging to see students connect with the 3ZERO Club Initiative and think about how they can contribute to a future with zero net carbon emissions, zero wealth concentration for ending poverty, and zero unemployment by unleashing entrepreneurship for all. 🌍

Meet the Changemakers: 3ZERO Social Impact Lab Cohort 1. 🌍

Shahajada Sheikh, a Cohort 1 graduate and 3ZERO Club member (Club ID: 050-001-0001) from Bangladesh, started the Plastic-Free School Zone initiative to help students reduce plastic waste and take better care of their school environment.

Nearly 30 people have taken part so far, while around 100 more have been reached through awareness efforts. Students learn simple ways to reduce waste through clean-ups, waste segregation, and discussions. These small changes support zero net carbon emissions by making waste reduction part of everyday school life.

At our recent 3ZERO Club Information Session at Mymensingh Zilla School, over 130 students joined us to learn about the 3ZERO Club Initiative. Students shared their own experiences, talked about social business and entrepreneurship, and shared ideas for their communities.

Their enthusiasm and curiosity made the conversation even more engaging. It was great to see students thinking about the issues around them and considering what they can do in their own communities.

We’re excited to take these conversations to more institutions and connect with more young people building toward a world of three zeros.🌍

Meet the Changemakers: 3ZERO Social Impact Lab Cohort 1. 🌍

Abdur Rahman Talha, a Cohort 1 graduate and 3ZERO Club member (Club ID: 050-005-0042) from Bangladesh, started Green Liability Bangladesh with a simple idea: caring for the environment can also create opportunities for young people.

So far, around 225 people have benefited directly, and nearly 800 more have been reached. The initiative works with corporations on tree planting and long-term monitoring, while students receive performance-based scholarships for their work. The initiative brings young people into environmental work while supporting zero net carbon emissions and giving them opportunities to learn, contribute, and grow.

Meet the Changemakers: 3ZERO Social Impact Lab Cohort 1. 🌍

MD. Sifatullah, a Cohort 1 graduate and 3ZERO Club member (Club ID: 050-001-0001) from Bangladesh, uses sports to bring young people together and create a space for them to stay active and connect.

The initiative has reached around 250 people directly and another 400 indirectly. Sports activities give young people a chance to stay active, build friendships, manage stress, and develop leadership skills, while more girls are getting the opportunity to take part.

The work contributes to zero unemployment by unleashing entrepreneurship for all by giving young people opportunities to build skills and take part in their communities.

Meet Malony Achuil Wal, a 3ZERO Club member from Kenya (Club ID: 404-014-008), who is working to help women build better livelihoods and give children a stronger start in life.

Malony’s work supports women, especially refugee women, with practical arts and crafts skills that can help them earn an income and become more independent. His work with children also focuses on safe environments, positive parenting, and helping them build respectful and peaceful relationships from an early age.

Better opportunities can help families build more secure livelihoods and strengthen communities. This initiative supports zero unemployment by unleashing entrepreneurship for all by helping women gain financial independence while giving children the safe and caring environment they need to grow.
