25/12/2023
Today is December 25, 2023. The 100th birth anniversary of architect Muzharul Isalm. The day also marks the 18th founding anniversary of the Muzharul Islam Archive, UAP (MIA.UAP).
Over the last 8–10 years, Muzharul Islam Archive, UAP has become a constant feature on any occasion celebrating the life and work of the maestro. MIA.UAP has partnered with IAB, the Institute of Fine Arts.DU, ArchAAB, and other organizations are holding exhibitions and lectures marking this day. This year is no exception, but MIA.UAP is taking a conscious backseat on the occasion of the birth centenary of the Architect.
MIA.UAP through its constant support from its well-wishers and volunteers, is slowly gaining momentum towards its objective to preserve and promote the work of Muzharul Islam and Vastukalabid. Over the years, MIA.UAP has gathered competency in the safekeeping and dissemination of the original drawings at its disposal. MIA.UAP firmly believes that it is the body of work that defines Muzharul Islam. The study and research of the work are as important as his persona for the proper appreciation and recognition that are befitting of the maestro. Towards this cause, MIA.UAP is promoting itself as an entity dedicated to year-round activity and research on his work. The repository at hand, strengthen the Archive towards a more objective appreciation of the significance of the work and Muzharul Islam as a personality. MIA.UAP in its capacity, will always be a cooperative partner in celebration of the architect on special occasions, but vows to celebrate the life and work of Muzharul Islam as a constant yearlong activity.
On the occasion of its founding, MIA.UAP would like to extend its wholehearted gratitude towards every UAP faculty, staff, and individual who have contributed in their own way to its 18-year-long journey. A special mention must be made of Ar. Nurur Rahman Khan and TKNRK; without their unwavering support, the journey itself wouldn't have started. The unconditional faith and trust of Muzharul Islam in Ar. Shamsul Wares and Ar. Abu Sayeed M. Ahmed made MIA.UAP possible. The day in 2005 is still remembered by many when Muzharul Islam himself, along with his eldest son, Ar. Rafiq Muzhar, carried all the drawings from their car to the department library. We fondly remember the humble beginning through the browsing station located at the department library and The Muzharul Islam Archive webpage.
To mark the birth centenary of Muzharul Islam, MIA.UAP has some interesting programs lined up. Exhibitions, talks, and publications are all in the pipeline in the coming days. MIA.UAP seeks your cooperation and support to make these events possible. Thank you.
