Today marks two years since the Naf River Bank Massacre.

In August 2024, Rohingya civilians fleeing violence in Maungdaw were met with systematic attacks by the Arakan Army (AA). Survivors recount horrific scenes: mortar shelling, drone strikes, boats sinking in the Naf River, and soldiers opening fire on a fleeing crowd, including an 8-year-old boy shot dead in front of his father.

At least 200 Rohingya civilians lost their lives, and women were subjected to brutal sexual violence and mutilation.

Two years later, the victims are still waiting for justice. Action Against Rohingya Atrocities (AARA) is officially calling on the International Criminal Court - ICC to immediately investigate these war crimes and crimes against humanity. We demand that commanders, including Major General Twan Mrat Naing, be held criminally accountable. The presence of other fighters never justifies the killing of innocent civilians.

We stand with the survivors. We demand an end to impunity.

The Rohingya crisis is worsening at an alarming rate. In just one week, we've witnessed a devastating convergence of junta airstrikes in Rakhine State, catastrophic floods submerging over 22 villages, and two horrific boat tragedies in the Bay of Bengal, leaving more than 530 people feared dead.

As monsoon rains continue to devastate both Rakhine and the Cox's Bazar refugee camps, human trafficking networks are operating with impunity, reportedly forcing desperate refugees onto boats despite severe weather warnings. Meanwhile, Myanmar and Bangladesh discuss repatriation while verification challenges remain.

We cannot look away. Read the full weekly situation report to understand the full scope of this escalating humanitarian catastrophe. 👇
