During the merits hearings in The Gambia v. Myanmar at the International Court of Justice, Judge Professor Peter Tomka asked The Gambia to outline the methodology it used to verify witness evidence received from various entities.

The judge also asked whether The Gambia had access to the identities and personal information of witnesses whose statements were provided by third parties, and what safeguards were in place to ensure that multiple statements relied upon as corroborative evidence did not originate from the same source.
