On 25 October 2026, we shared the findings of our Youth-led Participatory Action Research at the Findings Dissemination & Advocacy Meeting at the Zila Parishad Hall Room, Cox’s Bazar.
Five youth teams from Cox’s Bazar Sadar, Teknaf and Ukhiya carried out this research under the project “Youth-Led Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion Initiatives in Bangladesh and Myanmar”, implemented by ActionAid Bangladesh and SHED with Research Initiatives Bangladesh (RIB), and co-funded by the European Union.
Team One, led by JYDA Bangladesh Executive Director Shahrukh Karim together with JYDA Researcher Anika Islam, presented findings from Cox’s Bazar Sadar Municipality. We heard from 81 people through focus group discussions, participatory action research meetings and interviews.
What we found: people of different faiths live together in harmony. The real challenges are rumours, gaps in services like water, waste collection, street lights and registration, safety, and community committees that are no longer active. The communities themselves have agreed on actions to address these, and we are taking them forward with local government and the administration.
Thank you to everyone who took part and shared their views. Young people can build lasting peace, and today was a step in that direction.
