Rohingya Women Advancement Network (RWAN) stands with Rohingya civil society organizations in rejecting the Myanmar military juntaโs misleading claims regarding the repatriation of displaced Rohingya.
For the Rohingya, return is not simply about crossing a border. It is about returning home with safety, dignity, identity, rights, and justice. After years of displacement, persecution, and suffering, the Rohingya cannot be expected to return to conditions where their identity, security, and fundamental rights remain uncertain.
Any repatriation must therefore be voluntary, safe, dignified, sustainable, and independently monitored, with the meaningful participation of the Rohingya community, particularly women and youth, in decisions affecting their future.
We call for an end to the denial of Rohingya identity, persecution, and misinformation. We urge all relevant authorities to respect international law and comply with the orders of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
We want to return home, but we must return to a home where we can live freely, safely, and with dignity.
