Celebrating unity and growthđŸŒŋ

A heartfelt get-together with all Indigenous students of AUW. Welcoming our freshers, bidding farewell to our graduating seniors, and reconnecting with alumni. We were honored to have Rani Ukhengching Marma and Professor Sangita Rayamajhi and several of our teaching fellows grace the occasion with their presence.

We look forward to organizing more such meaningful gatherings in the future to continue strengthening our community bonds.

We are deeply outraged and heartbroken by the brutal gang-rape of an indigenous eight-grade schoolgirl in Khagrachari Sadar. This horrible crime is not only an attack on an innocent child but also on the dignity and security of the entire Indigenous Community.

Instead of ensuring justice and protection for the survivor, state forces have responded with intimidation and repression, shielding the perpetrators while silencing voices demanding justice. Protestors and community members who stand against the atrocity are being harassed, arrested, and attacked while settlers continue their voices against Indigenous peoples with impunity.

We demand an immediate arrest and punishment of all perpetrators involved in this brutal crime and an end to the harassment, intimidation, and attacks on indigenous communities and protestors. Justice and security for indigenous peoples, who deserve to live without fear in their own homeland.

We demand justice

Nepal is facing a grave crisis after the government banned 26 major social media platforms, sparking nationwide protests led by students and young people. The demand is clear—freedom of expression and justice.

Tragically, around 19 people have been killed and hundreds injured in violent clashes with security forces. As a student community, we stand in solidarity with Nepal’s youth and call for peace, dialogue, and protection of fundamental rights.

We, the AUW Indigenous student body from Bangladesh, along with our representative affiliations—the Indigenous Association and AUW Indigenous Club—are devastated to hear the news that Palestinian students were denied admission to AUW despite being offered fully funded scholarships.

Asian University for Women (AUW) has consistently provided a safe space through scholarships to students from underprivileged and marginalized communities across Bangladesh and several other countries. Thus, the outreach to Palestinian students is not a recent example of kindness but part of a longstanding commitment.

AUW has clarified that it is an independent, non-partisan institution established by an Act of the Bangladesh Parliament. The University has never maintained any partnership or contact with Israeli organizations, and all funding for scholarships comes from lawful, ethical, and transparent sources.

The university has also supported women from several Indigenous peoples across Asia through similar comprehensive scholarships and academic opportunities. The Kalpana Chakma Residence Hall, named in honor of a courageous Indigenous rights activist from Bangladesh, stands as a lasting symbol of the University's dedication to equity, empowerment, and the advancement of women from diverse backgrounds.

As members of the Indigenous Body at AUW, we value and affirm the University's ongoing efforts to provide education to women whose opportunities have been limited by conflict, marginalization, or geography. We believe that these initiatives not only transform individual lives but also strengthen communities and contribute to building a more just and compassionate world.
