The New Rule for Getting Titles in Rotary Bangladesh — Create It Yourself, Take It Yourself, and Introduce Yourself!

After spending so many years in Rotary, I am beginning to think that perhaps I was in the wrong Rotary all these years! 😄

I always understood that in Rotary International, obtaining an official position or responsibility required rules, authorization, an appointment, and—most importantly—an actual institutional basis.
But apparently, things have become much easier now!
Want to become a Country Coordinator? — Just become one.
Want to become a Deputy Country Coordinator? — Go ahead.
Assistant Country Coordinator? — Why not?
Need a few more positions? — Just create the titles!
There is only one small problem:
Those positions apparently do not exist in the official RI records! 😄

As far as I understand, if the Rotary International official website still specifically lists only PDG Ashish Ghosh as the responsible person for Bangladesh, then some very obvious questions naturally arise:
Where did all these Country Coordinators, Deputy Country Coordinators, Assistant Country Coordinators, and other titles come from?
Who appointed them?
Which authority appointed them?
When were they appointed?
Where are their appointment letters?
Where is the approval of the RI Board?
Where is the official RI Terms of Reference?
And most importantly—
Where is the official RI record recognizing these appointments?
Or has Rotary International now introduced an “alternative system” for its rules?
We used to hear the Rotary motto:

“Service Above Self.”

But looking at the behavior of some people, perhaps a new motto has quietly emerged:

“Title Above Rules!” 😄

And the most astonishing part is that there are so many Rotarians around—and hardly anyone is asking questions!
Someone simply stands up and announces:
“I am the Country Coordinator.”
And everyone responds:
“Yes, Sir! Congratulations!” 😂

Nobody asks:
“Who appointed you?”
Nobody says:
“Could you please show us your appointment letter?”
Nobody asks:
“Under which RI rule does this position exist?”
If these positions are genuinely part of an RI-approved structure, then what is the problem?
Publish the appointment letters.
Publish the authorization documents.
Show the official RI records.
Everyone will accept them respectfully.
But if there is no documentary evidence, then we have every right to ask:
Who is creating these positions in the name of Rotary International and appointing themselves or others to them?
Rotary International is not anyone’s personal kingdom.
No individual should be able to create positions at will, appoint people as they please, and then use those titles to present themselves as part of an internationally recognized leadership structure.
At this rate, perhaps we should expect some exciting new Rotary positions in the future:
Chief Country Coordinator,
Senior Deputy Country Coordinator,
Executive Assistant Deputy Country Coordinator,
Supreme Country Coordinator! 😂

And perhaps one day we will hear:
“Supreme Coordinator of Rotary International” — self-appointed!
It may sound funny, but the issue is actually not funny at all.
Because this is not merely about titles.
It is about Rotary's governance, transparency, accountability, and institutional integrity.
Therefore, to those who are introducing themselves with these impressive titles, I have one humble request:
Please don't get angry.
Just show us the appointment letter.
When such prestigious positions are apparently so easy to obtain, surely the documentation must exist somewhere!
And if it does not—
then Rotarians have every right to ask questions.
Asking questions is not a crime.
Sometimes, refusing to ask questions is the real problem.
If we genuinely want Rotary to remain rule-based, transparent, accountable, and institutionally credible, then it is time for Rotarians to start asking legitimate questions.
Otherwise, one day Rotary may have thousands of impressive titles—
but not a single document proving the legitimacy of those titles! 😄
