The workshop was jointly organized by IVSA PSTU Bangladesh and IVSA KAU in collaboration with One Health Youth Alliance Bangladesh, with support from the Department of Livestock Services (DLS) and Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. Funding and technical support were provided by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) under the MPTF Project. Special acknowledgment is extended to Bangladesh Radiantself Community (BRC) for its cooperation and support.
We are proud to share that almost all members of the Executive Board of IVSA PSTU, Bangladesh actively participated in this important national initiative, contributing to multidisciplinary discussions and youth-led policy dialogue on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) under the One Health framework. 🌍🐾
The programme was officially inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Md. Belal Hossain, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, who highlighted AMR as an emerging “silent disaster” in Bangladesh and emphasized the importance of environmental sustainability within the One Health approach.
The workshop featured technical sessions and expert discussions on AMR from the perspectives of animal health, human health, and environmental health. Sessions were conducted by distinguished experts from DLS, DGHS, the University of Dhaka, and WOAH, covering key topics including infection prevention and control (IPC), antimicrobial stewardship, the WHO AWaRe classification system, and national AMR response strategies.
A major highlight of the event was the participatory drafting session of the Youth AMR Country Statement, where participants worked in multidisciplinary groups under thematic sectors including Human Health, Animal Health & Livestock, Fisheries & Aquaculture, Environment & Wildlife, Policy & Partnerships, and Public-Private Collaboration for AMR Action.
The finalized Youth AMR Country Statement was formally adopted and handed over to Dr. Md.
