Discussion meeting and certificate distribution held on the occasion of World River Day-2022 celebration in Barisal

District Commissioner Barisal Jasim Uddin Haider requested everyone's cooperation to free all the rivers of the district, including the Kirtankhola river, to protect the beauty of Barisal in these three rice-river-canals. A discussion meeting and certificate distribution ceremony was held on the occasion of World River Day-2022 celebration at 10:30 am with the cooperation of ALRD and Bapa organized by district administration Barisal on this slogan of life-nature, biodiversity and protection of waterways. Hon'ble State Minister Ministry of Water Resources was the chief guest on the occasion. Deputy Commissioner Barisal Jasim Uddin Haider presided over the event. Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Barisal Khondkar Anwar Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Police Barisal Metropolitan Police Md Ali Ashraf Bhuya BPM (Bar), Additional Superintendent of Police Barisal Md Iqbal Hossain, General Secretary District Awami League Barisal Talukdar Mohammad Yunus, Zakir Hossain were special guests on the occasion. jointEditor Bapa Central Committee.Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Barisal Gautam Barai delivered the welcome address on the occasion. Coordinator Bela Rafiqul Alam presented the main article. Representatives of public and private organizations, social and voluntary organizations were also present. In the beginning, a multimedia presentation was presented on the occasion of River Day. Later the guests discussed the significance of River Day. Finally, the guests distributed certificates among the winners who participated in various competitions.

Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association has organized a meeting to form a Divisional Level Alliance on the Issue of Protection and Conservation of Reservoirs. The meeting was held at an elite restaurant in Barishal City on today Saturday in the presence of the leaders of the organizations working with the environment of different districts. Prof. Md. Abdul Motaleb presided over the function and was accompanied by Assistant Professor Dipti Rani Ghosh of Amrit Lal Dey College, Regional Coordinator of BELA Lincoln Baye, Executive Director of RUN Md. Rafiqul Alam, Executive Director of MAP Subhankar Chakraborty, Executive Director of Scope Qazi Enayet Hossain, The Hunger Project's Regional Coordinator Meher Afroz Mita, Building Future Climate Expert Project Focal Person Injamul Safin, The Daily Prothom Alo Patuakhali Correspondent Shankar Lal Das, The Daily Kaler Kanther Jhalokathi Correspondent KM Sabuj, The Daily Prothom Alo Pirojpur Correspondent A K Faysal Prince, Daily Desh Barta Barguna Representative Md. Mushfiqur Rahman, Amitabh Rajan and others. The speakers emphasized on the importance of working in alliance for the protection of reservoirs.

আগামীকাল ন্যাশনাল ক্লাইমেট এ্যাকশন এ্যাওয়ার্ড এর ফলাফল প্রকাশ

বিল্ডিং ফিউচার ক্লাইমেট এক্সপার্ট প্রজেক্টের আয়োজনে এবং বৃটিশ কাউন্সিলের অর্থায়নে "ন্যাশনাল ক্লাইমেট এ্যাকশন এ্যাওয়ার্ড" শীর্ষক প্রোগ্রাম অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। চারমাসব্যাপী বিভিন্ন ধাপে যাচাই-বাচাই ও মূল্যায়নের পরে আগামীকাল বুধবার বিকাল ৩টায় অনলাইনে এ ফলাফল প্রকাশ করা হবে। জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন মোকাবিলায় "এ" ক্যাটাগরিতে ব্যক্তিগত এবং "বি" ক্যাটাগরিতে সংগঠন বা কমিউনিটি পর্যায়ে গৃহীত শ্রেষ্ঠ কার্যক্রমের স্বীকৃতি প্রদান করা হবে। করোনা মহামারী পরিস্থিতিতে অনলাইনে এ প্রতিযোগিতা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।

বৈশ্বিক জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন মোকাবিলায় জাতিসংঘের ২৬তম জলবায়ু সম্মেলনকে সামনে রেখে বৃটিশ কাউন্সিল বিশ্বব্যাপী তরুণ সংগঠকদের জন্য “কপ-২৬ চ্যালেঞ্জ ফান্ড” চালু করে। ইয়ূথ এন্ডিং হাঙ্গারের ইয়ূথ লিডার তরুণ ইনজামুল সাফিন এর “বিল্ডিং ফিউচার ক্লাইমেট এক্সপার্ট” প্রকল্প বৃটিশ কাউন্সিলের ফান্ডের বিজয়ী হয়। এই প্রকল্পের অধীনে সারাদেশ থেকে তরুণ প্রজন্মের অংশগ্রহণে “ ন্যাশনাল ক্লাইমেট এ্যাকশন এ্যাওয়ার্ড” শীর্ষক প্রোগ্রাম আয়োজন করা হয়েছে। কুইজ কন্টেস্টে এডুকেশন ডেভেলপমেন্ট সোসাইটি টেকনিক্যাল পার্টনার হিসেবে সহযোগিতা করেছে।

BACKGROUND
Though Bangladesh is less liable for climate change but the country is one the most victim countries. Most of the areas specially the costal belt of the country is at stick due to climate change. The costal districts face cyclone in every year. Farmers becomes victims to flood occurred while cyclone. Abundance of fishes is at stick. A large number of people become homeless due to river erosion. Production of rice is declining due to irreversible rising of salinity. Many people suffer from various problem for insufficient of pure water. Life of the people of the climate vulnerable areas face different disadvantages occurred by climate change. At this stage their is no alternative to take initiative for mitigation and adaptation. We need to build up climate experts for future. Considering the issue we propose the project titled “Building Future “Climate Experts” in 10 Schools & Communities of Coastal Barguna, Barishal and Patuakhali Districts focusing on adaptation and resilience to prepare the coastal areas citizens to face the impacts of climate change. As part of the project we are going to organise a "National Slogan Contest on Climate-2021" for the Bangladeshi nationals.
