What a privilege it was for Deaf House Barbados to serve as the local host and partner for the Caribbean Sign Language Bible Translation Conference alongside Wycliffe Bible Translators and our regional partners.
Together, we welcomed Deaf leaders, interpreters, pastors, translators, and ministry partners from across the Caribbean to Barbados with one shared vision: ensuring that Deaf people throughout our region can encounter God’s Word in their own sign language.
As Wycliffe recently shared, only an estimated 2% of the global Deaf community knows Jesus. While that statistic is sobering, this conference reminded us that God is already at work. The conversations, relationships, and training that began here in Barbados are laying the foundation for sign language Bible translation across the Caribbean, bringing the hope of Scripture to thousands of Deaf people in a language they can fully understand.
This is only the beginning.
We are especially excited for Part 2 of the training, which will take place in Trinidad & Tobago. We are proud that our very own Scott Williams from Deaf House Barbados will be representing Barbados as he continues this important journey alongside leaders from across the region.
Please continue to pray for Scott, the translation teams, and everyone involved in this Kingdom work. We believe God is opening doors for Deaf people across the Caribbean to know Him more deeply through His Word.
The work continues, and we’re grateful to be part of what God is doing. 🤟📖❤️
