Happy World Wetlands Day! 🌿💧

Today, we honor the vital role wetlands play and celebrate this year's theme: Celebrating Wetlands and Traditional Knowledge. For centuries, communities have lived in harmony with these ecosystems, and their wisdom is crucial to effective conservation today.

Wetlands—from marshes to mangroves—are nature's indispensable allies, providing clean water, sustaining incredible biodiversity, regulating climate, and protecting us from coastal erosion.

Here at Walkers Reserve, we are actively engaged in hands-on wetland restoration and protection! Our work involves regenerating degraded areas, establishing native vegetation, and implementing regenerative land management practices to ensure these habitats thrive for future generations. We believe that integrating traditional ecological knowledge with modern science is key to the success of our regenerated wetland.

See regeneration in action! Come visit Walkers Reserve, explore our growing wetland s, and discover the unique challenges and exciting successes of our restoration project firsthand. Learn how we're protecting these crucial habitats!

Plan your visit today! Check our website for opening times and guided tour information. Let's protect, restore, and value our wetlands together.

SAVE THE DATE! Join us for a special World Wetlands Day commemoration event: “Wetland Explorers in Long Pond” on the 21st of February at Walkers Reserve. Come learn about the intersection of traditional knowledge and restoration science! More details to follow soon!
