Water can be both a place of joy and a place of risk for individuals on the autism spectrum. That is why learning to swim is not just a skill, it is essential.

This year marked our third annual Swim Workshop, where parents, caregivers and individuals on the spectrum were introduced to the fundamentals of water safety and swimming in a supportive, understanding environment.

We are proud to continue creating opportunities like this that build confidence, independence and safety in and around water.

A heartfelt thank you to U Sports Academy for partnering with us and helping to make this initiative possible.

Autism Awareness Month is here πŸ’™

This April, we’re inviting everyone to wear blue every Friday in support of persons on the autism spectrum.
Tomorrow is Friday β€” so let’s kick it off strong! πŸ’™

Whether it’s a blue shirt, accessories, or your full outfit, show your support and help us spread awareness across Barbados.

Together, we can promote understanding, acceptance, and inclusion.

Wear blue. Start conversations. Show support.

The energy, the joy, the smiles β€” April 1st was nothing short of amazing πŸ’™

Both Erdiston Special School and Irving Wilson School hosted engaging activities to celebrate their students, creating safe and happy spaces for expression and connection.

We were especially excited to donate trampolines to each school β€” not just for fun, but as powerful tools for regulation.

For many children on the autism spectrum, trampolines can support:
✨ Sensory regulation
✨ Improved focus
✨ Body awareness and coordination
✨ Emotional release in a safe way

It’s more than play β€” it’s support, development, and freedom of expression.

We’re honoured to contribute to environments where every child can feel balanced, empowered, and understood πŸ’™

Today is World Autism Awareness Day πŸ’™

At the Autism Association of Barbados, we are reminded that autism is not a momentβ€”it is a lifelong journey that calls for understanding, inclusion, and support.

This year, under our theme β€œOne Community, One Heart,” we stand together to build a Barbados where individuals on the autism spectrum are accepted, valued, and given every opportunity to thrive.
Let’s move beyond awareness to acceptance.
Let’s choose kindness, patience, and inclusion.
Let’s show that when we come together as one community, we can make a meaningful difference with one heart.
πŸ’™ Wear blue today in support
πŸ’™ Start a conversation
πŸ’™ Be part of the change
