Saturday Educational Fieldtrip: Our Inspiring Visit to Fundacion Arubano di esnan Visualmente Incapacita
On Saturday evening, our Kiwanis Club of Aruba held its second Fieldtrip — an initiative designed to take our members out of the usual meeting setting and into meaningful spaces where we can learn, bond, and grow together. This time, we had the privilege of visiting FAVI Aruba, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary.
What is FAVI?
FAVI (Fundacion Arubano di esnan Visualmente Incapacita) is Aruba’s foundation dedicated to supporting individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Their mission is to empower clients through rehabilitation, mobility training, education, daily‑living skills, and community inclusion. FAVI provides a safe, supportive environment where every person is welcomed with dignity, respect, and unwavering care.
Our Experience
From the moment we arrived, the FAVI team welcomed us with open arms. Their warmth, professionalism, and passion were felt in every interaction. We learned about the essential services they provide, the challenges their clients face, and the incredible dedication of the staff who guide them with patience, love, and expertise.
We were also given a small taste of their Dare the Darkness experience — a powerful, eye‑opening activity that allowed us to briefly step into the world of those who navigate life without sight. It left us humbled, moved, and full of admiration.
The Impact
Every member left FAVI feeling inspired. We were blown away by the resilience of the clients, the commitment of the team, and the depth of care that fills every corner of the organization. Their hospitality, their knowledge, and their willingness to share their world with us made this fieldtrip unforgettable.
FAVI reminded us of the strength that exists in community, compassion, and inclusion. We are grateful for the opportunity and look forward to continuing our support and collaboration.
