We have now entered the Bush Fire Danger Period‼️

Today marks the official start of the bush fire season, with the Bush Fire Danger Period beginning in Bathurst, Lithgow and Oberon 🔥

If you’re planning on conducting a burn, you’ll require a fire permit from the Chifley Lithgow District. Fire permits help ensure fire is used safely and reduces the danger to you, your property and the community.

Residents and land holders must know the rules when it comes to the use of fire. Along with having the required fire permits, you need to notify the NSW Rural Fire Service and neighbours of your intent to burn at least 24 hours in advance.

Please note: It may take up to a week for a Permit Officer to make contact and conduct inspections as there is a large volume of requests at this time.

📲 Head to the website to apply for a permit, and lodge your notification as well as keep track of fires in your area.

Yesterday Yetholme had a crew of 4 attend a Hazard Reduction Burn at Capertee working alongside other Brigades.

Everyone had a great and successful day making the most of favourable conditions to try and help get ahead of the upcoming fire season.

Thanks to all who gave their time and efforts, you are all incredibly appreciated 👏🏼

Over the past 5 days our crews have already responded to multiple car fires and other incidents across our area.

Fire season is approaching. In many ways- it is already here. Now is the time to make sure you and your property are prepared.

Stay alert. Keep watch. Know the risks. Have a plan.
