The former Stephens Division:1886-1902 / Shire of Stephens:1903-1925 was bounded by Cornwall Street, Logan Road, Mayfield Road, Hamilton Road, Moolabin Creek, Oxley Creek and the Brisbane River and encompassed all of Annerley, Fairfield, Tennyson and Yeronga plus parts of Dutton Park(5%), Greenslopes(40%), Holland Park West(95%), Moorooka(60%), Mt Gravatt(91%), Tarragindi(96%) and Yeerongpilly(79%)

The Island Storytellers Festival is happening 3-5 October. Events are taking place at Lamb, Coochiemudlo and North Stradbroke islands, as well as on a ferry going between.

Deborah Jordan who spoke recently at ASHG on women’s suffrage will be launching her new book aboard the ferry on Sunday afternoon.

This festival is such an imaginative way to take advantage of the island geography. Check out the program:

Thank you Judith Anderson for a fascinating talk about some of the people left their mark on Qld’s Government House. We were all intrigued by the stories of Johann Heussler who the house was initially built for in the 1860s and John Stevenson who later bought it. We heard of dreams of what is possible and fortunes made and lost.

Judith was an entertaining and knowledgeable speaker enjoyed by all.
