The Upper Goulburn Landcare Network Landcare events, news and activities

The UGLN has been operating for over fifteen years and has a strong and positive relationship with landholders, community organizations, schools, and government agencies. There are 10 Landcare groups, 3 Junior Landcare groups and 4 ‘Friends of” and Natural Resource Management groups in the Network, encompassing the Murrindindi Shire and one group from the Mansfield Shire. There is a strong focus i

n several areas of natural resource management including, but not limited to; Biodiversity, fire recovery, pest plant and animal control, environmental education in schools, fauna monitoring, sustainable agriculture and social connectivity. We also have the King Parrot Catchment Fox Control Project and 4 Blackberry Action Groups (BAGs) established within the Network. Merton-Cathkin BAG, Strath Creek BAG, Whittlesea & Surrounds (encompassing Kinglake West) and TBAG (encompassing Taggerty and Buxton).

Blackberry Control Workshop.

You are invited to join Agriculture Victoria and Upper Goulburn Landcare Network for a workshop focused on supporting effective blackberry control.

Topics will cover managing blackberries after fires, growth stages and various control methods.

Participants will have an opportunity to:
• share experiences, challenges, and practical solutions for tackling blackberries.
• learn from industry bodies and land management experts about effective blackberry control techniques and integrated management strategies.

Date: Wednesday 9th September
Time: 9 – 11 am
Location: Molesworth Hall, 4364 Goulburn Valley Highway, Molesworth

It's been a huge week of schools tree planting activities across the shire - Toolangi Primary School joined in with the fun on Monday putting in a great selection of plants supporting animal habitat and food sources. Thanks to Sue Mcnair from Murrindindi Shire Council for supporting all of these events and plantings - would not have happened without her!

And big thanks to Kinglake volunteers John and Felix for their efforts and help.

The National Schools Tree Planting Day fun continues with planting along Boundary Creek in Yea with Sacred Heart Primary putting in a massive effort at a site that has been planted by Yea schools over the last four years. Old tree guards and stakes were pulled out, rubbish collected and new plants put in - all in record time! Well done Sacred Heart! 💚
