Community Notice – Local AECG Being Formed

Onerwal Local Aboriginal Land Council would like to share an important opportunity for our community.

Steps are currently underway to establish a local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) in our area. AECGs play an important role in strengthening the relationship between local Aboriginal communities and schools, advocating for culturally strong education, and supporting better outcomes for our Aboriginal students and families.

We invite local Aboriginal parents, carers, Elders, community members, and those passionate about supporting Aboriginal education to express their interest in being part of this group.

Being part of a local AECG provides an opportunity to:
• Have a voice in Aboriginal education locally
• Support schools to embed culture and community in learning
• Advocate for the needs of Aboriginal students and families
• Work together to create stronger pathways for our young people

More information about the first meeting and how to get involved is below.

If you would like to register your interest or learn more, please contact Onerwal LALC on 02 6226 5349 or email [email protected] or just drop in our office!

Together, we can ensure our children and young people are supported to thrive in education while remaining strong in culture and community. 🖤💛❤️
