🚒 Get Ready Weekend 2026 🔥

Come on down and visit NSW RFS - Illawarra Sutherland Operational Support Brigade at this year’s Eats and Beats Festival in Oak Flats on 19 September from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

We’ll be going over all things fire safety and providing information ahead of the upcoming bush fire season. There will also be some fun activities for the kids, as well as an opportunity to check out the fire trucks.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

-A New Beginning-

As of 1 July 2026, Oak Flats Rural Fire Brigade and Illawarra Support Rural Fire Brigade have joined forces to create the new Illawarra Sutherland Operational Support Rural Fire Brigade.

This merger brings together 94 years of operational service, with Oak Flats RFB starting in 1950 and Illawarra Support RFB starting in 2008.

What does this mean for the community?

This change allows for greater response and logistical capability across the Illawarra and Sutherland areas, helping to assist the community when they are in need.

We will continue to serve the Oak Flats community as we always have over the past 76 years, through community events such as the annual Santa Run.

We are still located at 37 Airport Road, Albion Park Rail NSW 2527, and are around every Saturday from 9 am until approximately 12 pm.

Over the last few days we have had crews from Oak Flats joint with Illawarra Support Rural Fire Brigade to help assist in the search for the missing individual in the Royal National Park near Waterfall.

Amazing outcome from today!!

This weekend our brigade have joined Illawarra Support Rural Fire Brigade and NSW RFS - Oak Flats Brigade to stand up as part of a fire response for Wings over Shellharbour.

Our bulk water joined a Category 6 appliance and stood up at Illawarra FCC for rapid response both days. Thankfully aresponse to an incident was not required.
