We are here and ready to offer hope, healing, care packages and financial assistance. Linsey's Legacy Gynaecological Cancer Foundation

We are an Unincorporated body in honour of Linsey Metcalf and her children. Linsey lost her battle with Cervical Cancer in December 2021. Linsey was 38 and the mother of 3 boys Jaidyn, Blake and Brax and the stepmother of Shilah Smith. The purpose of the foundatio

n is to provide information for the prevention and early intervention of gynaecological cancers and support to families who are required to have extended stays in Adelaide, for treatment. We are recruiting members of the foundation at a cost of $20 per year as the base funding to provide comfort packages for families who are required to have treatment in Adelaide and therefore are required to be in Adelaide for an extended time. The package will include luxury bed topper, quilt, sheets and pillows. We are also aware the Patient Assistant Transport Scheme PATS will only pay for accommodation on treatment days and therefore families are required to travel back home for weekends. In my experience this causes much unneeded stress on families who are doing it tough. Having a base where children and other family can come to support the patient is critical to their wellbeing. It is our intention to provide both the comfort packages, assistance with accommodation and financial support so families can have a home base while having treatment. To do this we will be fundraising and seeking sponsorship. I will be forever grateful for the support and as we are dedicated to preventing women from gynaecological cancers and providing families with support when treatment is required. Deb Katsiavos

Did you know that a simple cervical smear test can help protect you against cervical cancer?

It’s a quick and painless procedure that checks for any changes in the cells of your cervix before they develop into cancer.

Regular cervical smears are key to early detection and prevention. Most health guidelines recommend starting screening from age 25 and continuing every 5 years, depending on your location and health history.

If you haven’t booked your smear test yet, now’s the perfect time! You may even be eligible for a self-collection. Your health matters, so let’s stay on top of it together.

Contact our team at Bunyarra Medical Clinic on 8645 9755 to book in for your cervical screening with one of our nurses.

Today, on World Ovarian Cancer Day, we stand with every woman, family, and community impacted by ovarian cancer.

At Linsey’s Legacy, we honour the strength of those facing diagnosis, remember the lives lost too soon, and continue advocating for greater awareness, earlier detection, and better support for women everywhere.

Ovarian cancer symptoms are often overlooked or mistaken for everyday health issues. Knowing the signs could save a life.

💙 Persistent bloating
💙 Pelvic or abdominal pain
💙 Feeling full quickly
💙 Changes in urinary habits

No woman should face ovarian cancer alone. Today, we encourage conversations, support research, and remind every woman to trust her body and seek medical advice if something doesn’t feel right.

Together, we can create change, spread hope, and build a future where more women survive ovarian cancer.

We’re here to support women, families, and loved ones affected by gynaecological cancer — today, this month, and always.

Please take a moment to read our ad, share this post, and help spread awareness. Together, we can create change.
