Update.....
Dear friends and followers of Paradise 4 Kids, it seems that some non-tax deductable donors wish to continue supporting those in need. In addition, our Containers for Change supporters are still donoting funds to p4kfiji.

What does this mean?
1. We can continue the Fiji Scholarship Program for vocational and university studies.
2. We can support Homeless Ministry/Programs in Australia.

This year we have supported Emmauel City Mission in Brisbane and P4K Community Kitchen in Melbourne with cash donations. This month we are supporting a winter drive appeal and Community Kitchen at St Pauls Antiochian church in Brisbane.

Looks like God is keeping the doors open after all.
Thank you very much for your donations and support.

Those that paved the way in Fiji...Memory Eternal

One came to the Pacific as a sower.
The other grew as the first fruit.

Metropolitan Amphilochios arrived in lands far from his own, carrying the faith as life—building, baptising, ordaining, and planting the Church where it had not been known. What began humbly was nevertheless real, like a seed set into the soil of the Pacific.

That seed, sown through his labours, was received in the hearts of the local people. In time, it began to bear fruit. Among those in whom it took root was Fr. Bartholomew—born of that same soil—who, in his ordination, received the grace of the priesthood and came to embody it within his own people. In him, the Church was no longer something newly received; it had begun to live and grow from within.

And now both have departed.

The one who planted, and the one in whom the planting bore visible fruit, have both been gathered. They have not been taken away from the work, but received into its fulfillment, which we do not yet see as it is.

What we call an ending is not seen in the same way in the Kingdom. The seed disappears into the earth; the fruit falls; both pass from our sight. Yet nothing is lost to God.

We remain, still within time, still unable to see the fullness. But we are not left without witness. We have seen the beginning, and we have seen the first fruit. And now both are hidden with Christ.

The Mission does not belong to those who began it, nor to those who continue it. It belongs to the One who gives life, who calls, who gathers, and who brings all things to their true completion.

So we entrust them both to Him whom they served.

And we remain with a certainty that what has been sown in faith, and lived in humility, will not pass away.

May the Lord grant rest to His servants, where there is no pain, no sorrow, nor sighing, but life everlasting.

May their memory be eternal.

Christ is Risen.

Closing of P4K Fiji Project

Seven years ago we set up the P4K Fiji project. After several visits to the Orthodox mission and meetings with His Emeinence Bishop Myron and the administrator of Fiji, Fr Meletios, I was excited to embark on this new project, with their blessing. I was offered accomodation by the church and was able to make Fiji my home.

We began on a part time basis and quickly moved into full time involvement. During that time we established a playgroup, supported St Tabitha Home with food, clothes, school supplies, a vehicle for school transportation, tutoring and funded extracurricular activities. We also supported those working at St Tabitha with policies and procedures to help improve the operations of the Children's Home. In addition, we donated to families in the northern Island of Labasa. In 2023, I was asked to step in as Principal for St Tabitha Home and perform other administrative duties. I did this to the best of my ability.

The time has now come for me to retire from mission work OVERSEAS and this sadly means closing the doors to Fiji. I take away many lessons learned, some amazing memories and alot of critical relections on my time spent there. I will never forget the children, staff and the local people and sincerely thank them all for sharing their lives with me.

A huge thank you to our generous donors, to our facebook followers and volunteers who raised funds and gave their time.

We will continue to support the scholarship program as we have several students continuing degree courses. Sadly, we cannot take on new students as it has become difficult to oversee this project without a P4K representative on the ground in Fiji.

May Jesus Christ guide the lives of the Orthodox faithful in Fiji, may their lives be filled with a desire to draw near and may they be rewarded with Grace... for we are all called to become icons of Christ.
