Please assist our Emergency Services during this rain and flood event by driving safely and responsibly:

1. Reduce your speed.
2. Avoid distractions while driving.
3. Increase your following distance from the vehicle in front.
4. Turn your headlights on when driving in the rain β€” you may be able to see clearly, but other drivers may struggle to see you.
5. IF ITS FLOODED FORGET IT!

πŸš’ Meet the Brigade Monday πŸš’

This week we’re introducing our recently appointed Brigade Captain, Shaun Doughty!

πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’ Who are you and what role do you play within the brigade?
My name is Shaun Doughty and I’ve recently stepped into the role of Brigade Captain.

⏳ How long have you been part of the RFS?
I’ve been with the RFS since 2006.

πŸ”₯ What sparked your interest in joining the RFS?
I first got involved through a school cadet program and instantly loved it. From there I never looked back.

🀝 What keeps you coming back year after year?
The teamwork and camaraderie. Being able to help our community alongside brigade members and other emergency services is something special.

🚨 What’s something people may be surprised to learn about the RFS?
Many people think we only fight bush fires, but we attend a wide range of incidents. We work alongside other agencies responding to floods, motor vehicle accidents, structure fires and many other emergencies.

πŸ’ Ever thought about joining?
Being part of the RFS is more than fighting fires β€” it’s learning new skills, making lifelong friendships and helping make a difference in your local community.

If you’ve ever been curious about volunteering, feel free to reach out and have a chat with us! πŸš’

Wrapping up National Volunteer Week πŸš’πŸ‘ with another busy day for Mt Arthur Brigade.

Today we assisted the Dubbo City Car Club inc. at the Bodangora Drag Races 🏁, providing fire protection to help ensure a safe event for competitors and spectators should anything happen πŸ”₯🚨

While supporting the event, Mt Arthur 1 was also tasked to a truck rollover πŸš›. Thankfully, the driver walked away with only a few bumps and scrapes πŸ‘

Days like today show the variety of incidents our volunteers respond to and the important role they play in supporting our community ❀️ A big thank you to all volunteers who continue to give their time to help others πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’πŸ‘©β€πŸš’

As National Volunteer Week comes to a close, Mt Arthur Brigade recently held our AGM and would like to welcome the new hierarchy within the brigade:

πŸš’ Captain – Shaun Doughty
πŸš’ Senior Deputy Captain – Thomas Bell
πŸš’ Deputy Captain – Don Macrone
πŸš’ Deputy Captain – Marty Gully

We would also like to take this opportunity to recognise and thank outgoing Captain Lyle Carpenter for his dedication and leadership.

Lyle has been steering the ship since 2005 and, with over 20 years serving as Captain, has dedicated countless hours, effort and commitment to Mt Arthur Brigade and our local community. His leadership, knowledge and support over the years have been greatly appreciated and have helped shape the brigade into what it is today.

While stepping down from the Captain's role, we're pleased to say Lyle will still remain with Mt Arthur Brigade as a firefighter.

Thank you, Lyle, for everything you have done and continue to do for the brigade and community. πŸ‘πŸš’

We would also like to wish the new leadership team all the very best in their roles moving forward. We look forward to continuing to build on the strong foundations of the brigade and working together to support our community.

This National Volunteer Week, Mt Arthur Rural Fire Brigade would like to recognise and thank every volunteer who helps make our communities stronger.

From emergency services, sporting clubs and community groups to fundraising committees, charities and local events β€” volunteers are the backbone of our great communities.

These incredible people give up their time at all weird and wonderful hours, often missing family events, sleep and even pay, simply for the love of helping others and supporting their community.

The work volunteers do often goes unseen, but without them many organisations, events and services simply would not exist. Their dedication, passion and willingness to lend a hand is what keeps communities connected and thriving.

To every volunteer across our region and beyond β€” thank you for the countless hours, hard work and sacrifices you make. Your efforts never go unnoticed and your communities are better because of you.

πŸ”₯ Mt Arthur Reserve Fire – Update πŸ”₯

Mt Arthur Brigade responded to a vegetation fire today in the Mt Arthur Reserve area.

With the assistance of Helitak 223, along with local crews and supporting agencies, the fire was contained and brought under control. Crews remained on scene for black-out and monitoring to ensure no further spread.

We remind the community to remain vigilant, follow all fire restrictions, and report any fires immediately by calling 000.

A big thank you to our volunteers and partner agencies, including Helitak 223, for their hard work and commitment in challenging conditions. πŸš’πŸšπŸ‘
