🚨 INCIDENT RESPONSE 🚨

Massie & District 51 and 52 were paged to a grass fire along Sandy Creek Road earlier today.

Crews responded alongside Leslie 51, Warwick Urbans and Allora urbans

Firefighters worked together to contain and black out the fire, with crews remaining on scene extinguishing hotspots and ensuring the area was made safe.

Thanks to the quick actions and teamwork of all firefighters involved, the fire was brought under control before it could spread further.

A reminder to the community to remain vigilant and report any signs of smoke or fire immediately.

Massie and District RFB had a fantastic time attending Wheatvale State School’s Under 8’s Day today! 🚒🔥

The students had the chance to check out the fire truck, learn about fire safety, and even test their aim on the hose during some fun interactive activities. It was great to see so many smiling faces and curious young minds enjoying the day.

A big thank you to Wheatvale State School for having us along and helping us engage with the next generation of our community. We hope everyone had as much fun as we did! 👩‍🚒👨‍🚒🚒

Today marks International Firefighters’ Day — a day to honour the dedication, sacrifice, and courage of firefighters everywhere.

Behind every call-out is someone willing to leave their family, their job, and their comfort to help a complete stranger. Whether it’s fighting fires, assisting in emergencies, or supporting the community in times of need, firefighters stand ready — day and night.
We proudly recognise our volunteers and career crews who give so much to keep others safe. You are the backbone of our communities.

We also remember those who are no longer with us — your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
From all of us, thank you for everything you do.

This morning we had a special request that we couldn’t say no to ❤️

A mum reached out to our First Officer hoping her young boy could come down and see the trucks—and even have a sit inside—before heading to Brisbane for treatment.

Of course, we made it happen.

He spent time exploring the trucks, had a turn on the hose, and was officially kitted out with his very own junior firefighter shirt and helmet to start his journey 🚒

His bright smile and happy spirit lifted everyone at the station, and it’s safe to say he made our day just as much as we made his.

You’re welcome back anytime, mate. We’ll be cheering you on every step of the way 💪

🚒 Good news for Massie & District 🚒

We’re happy to share that RFBAQ approved funding for Massie and District RFB to purchase a new ride-on mower.

This new addition, coming from Warwick Small Engines, will help us keep our station grounds well maintained.

Thanks again to RFBAQ and to everyone who continues to support our brigade.

With the recent increase in fires, it’s not too late to revisit and review your bushfire plans.

If you’re up to date—awesome! But what about those around you who may be new to the area?

Remember, during large-scale incidents there won’t always be a truck available for every home. Volunteer numbers are limited, and fatigue is very real for your RFS crews.

So ask yourself:
👉 Is your property at risk?
👉 Is your property ready?

Here are some simple steps to help prepare your property:

• Reduce vegetation along access paths
• Mow your lawn regularly
• Remove excess flammable materials (dry grass, leaves, branches)
• Trim low-lying branches up to 2 metres from the ground
• Clear gutters and roofs of debris
• Display your house number clearly at the road or front gate
• Ensure there is adequate access for fire trucks

🚒 Can we fit through your gate if needed? (See photo below as a guide)

Take the time to revisit your plan, and consider signing up with your local RFS brigade to support the volunteers protecting your community.

🔥 Fire Danger Ratings give clear actions you can take. The higher the rating, the more dangerous the conditions.

These ratings are based on:
☀️ Weather (temperature, humidity, wind)
🌿 Vegetation type and how dry it is

Fire behaviour is then modelled based on these conditions.

If you need help with fire safety planning, reach out to us or your local brigade.

🚨 If you see smoke, don’t wait—call 000 (Triple Zero). Every second counts.
