Today we climbed Mt Abrupt (Mad-dadjug) from the Piccaninny(Bainggug) and descended to the Mt Abrupt car park. The weather and views were spectacular.

Signal Peak in the Grampians (Gariwerd)NP was the objective today. Light drizzle and brooding clouds did not dampen the spirits of the seven who undertook the climb from the car park.

Australia's favourite top 10 wildflowers have been revealed after 70,000+ voted in the ABC Radio National poll, launched in honour of National Science Week. The voting is below:
#1: The flannel flower (Actinotus) with 16,567 votes

#2: The flying duck orchid (Caleana) with 14,370 votes

#3: The mulla mulla (Ptilotus) with 10,342 votes

#4: The murnong or yam daisy (Microseris) with 7,171 votes

#5: The triggerplant (Stylidium) with 5,409 votes

#6: The underground orchid (Rhizanthella) with 5,281 votes

#7: The star flower (Calytrix) with 5,007 votes

#8: The Richea scoparia (Richea scoparia) with 3,676 votes

Meanwhile back in Victoria, on the Great Ocean Walk, 3 Warrnambool Bushwalkers enjoyed a weekend hike to Devils Kitchen and Wreck Beach.

Mimosa Rocks National Park Day 5/ Our final walking day/ Picnic Point to Bithrey Inlet and return/ about 10km.
Our last day of hiking began with coffee/chai and delicious muffins at our favourite cafe ‘Wild Orchid’ in Tathra. From there we drove to Picnic Point. It’s a gorgeous trail, crossing through shady wooded areas towards the shores of the pristine Wapengo Creek. We saw native cherry trees and checked out fisherman’s huts. This was an area previously owned by Professor Manning Clark and his wife Dymphna, called Ness. In 1987, wishing to protect the areas heritage and scenic values, it was nominated for a Permanent Conservation Order. In 1999, it was transferred to the State Heritage Register.
For our final evening, we voted to stay in camp( rather than go to pub) and continue with our fabulous campfire cooking.

A much easier days walking!

Mimosa Rocks N.P. Day 4/ Bithrey Inlet to Middle Beach and return. About 10km.
We walked down to the Myer House, set in a secluded location within the park. It was built by Kenneth Myer of the Myer Foundation from a design by renowned architect Sir Roy Grounds. It was donated to the Park in 1976 and is available for hire. Coastal excellence all day: rainforest, lakes, beaches and bush. Saw some Humpback whales frolicking off Stinking Bay. A much easier days walking. Another great evening of campfire cooking.
