Well the rally is over and the time has come to start on the much needed repairs for the ol girl and bring her back to full health.
Today the car was placed on the hoist to inspect the underneath and it’s there we saw the rock damage to the metal floor and channels on the underbody.
The fuel tank stone guard made by Nathan Perry worked a treat and absolutely saved the tank from damage.
Son in-law Chris Sloan quickly ripped into pulling the engine bay and engine apart and its there we found the culprit that seen us in triage in Aramac.
When the heads were removed we found a leak in the gasket between cylinders 4 and 6.
Whilst the engine is being cleaned up and repaired we are also fitting a new radiator, thermostat and water pump.
Once it is all back together and pressure tested we will then have a pretty good cooling system capable of handling future rallies and just in time for Chris and grandson Cameron to attend the upcoming Lunchbox rally in September.
Thanks for following our progress through the rally and we will post anything that comes along between rallies.
