There is something powerful about being in the same room.

Recently, our Board came together in Sydney for an in-person meeting, spending time planning, debating, and shaping what comes next for our community across the Pacific region. These are busy professionals who give their time generously, and it was a reminder of just how much thoughtful work happens behind the scenes.

We are pleased to announce a new chapter in our leadership, reflecting both continuity and the ongoing strength of our interdisciplinary community.

We welcome Darren Mort (VIC), as our in-coming president, and Dr Phill Watts (WA) as our VP, supported by our longstanding treasurer, Kirstie Colls (QLD) of and our secretary, Rachael Oakley (WA)

They join our other directors, Elizabeth Picker (NSW) Perpetua Kish (ACT) Clare Rowe (NSW) Joplin Higgins OAM (NSW) Jennifer Veitch (QLD) Brintyn Smith (NZ) , Steph Reid (VIC) and Angelina Hing (Singapore) - together a brave, bright and bold multidisciplinary board 🤍

This transition is also an opportunity to recognise, with deep gratitude, the extraordinary contribution of The HonourableThe Hon Steven Strickland KC Strickland KC. Over many years, his vision, generosity of time, and unwavering commitment have shaped Pacifica Congress into the vibrant and respected organisation it is today. From his initial involvement with the Australian Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), Timothy McMichael progressed rapidly—becoming a Board Member, then Director of the newly established Pacifica Congress, and later serving as Vice President until his decision to step down earlier this year. This trajectory exemplifies his unwavering dedication to family and social justice over more than three and a half decades.

Throughout his distinguished career, Timothy has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to excellence in family law and family justice. His advancement—from member to leadership roles within both AFCC Australia and Pacifica Congress—was a natural and well-merited reflection of his long‑standing contributions and expertise.
