A beautiful insight into the heart of fostering, shared by Emily and Tate’s wonderful first-time foster mum.
🐾❤️ My First Time as a Foster Dog Mum – Emily & Tate ❤️🐾
They say fostering saves lives, but I’m learning that the dogs you save have a pretty special way of stealing your heart, too. 🥹❤️
Emily and Tate are my very first foster dogs, and they’ve completely stolen our hearts. They’ve shown me exactly why I chose to do this and why giving dogs a second chance at life is so incredibly special.
Fostering two dogs of different ages, with their own individual needs and personalities, has definitely been a learning curve and a challenge at times. But I couldn’t be prouder of these two and how far they’ve come already. ❤️
Every day, they’re becoming more settled, more loving and more comfortable in their surroundings. Watching their personalities shine through and seeing them play so beautifully together has been so rewarding.
It’s amazing to see how much difference a loving, safe home can make in such a short amount of time. Watching them relax, build confidence and start to feel at home reminds me that sometimes all a dog needs is patience, understanding and someone willing to give them a chance. 🏡🐶
Tomorrow, Emily heads off for her desexing, and I already know we’ll have our own little challenge keeping Tate settled while his girl recovers! 😂❤️ I’ll also miss having Emily by my side while I work. It’s incredible how quickly they become part of your everyday life.
Next week, it’ll be Tate’s turn, and I can already imagine Emily showing her gentle, nurturing side while he recovers. 🥹🐾 Their bond is just another thing that makes these two so special.
I can now understand why people fall in love with fostering. There’s something so beautiful about offering a dog safety, love and a fresh start, then watching them blossom as they begin to feel secure.
But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t already thinking about the void they’ll leave when they find their forever homes. 💔 I adore these two, and I know letting go will be hard. They’ve left their paw prints on our hearts in a way I never expected.
That’s the bittersweet part of fostering. You open your home and heart, knowing one day you’ll have to say goodbye. But you also know that letting them go means they get to begin a new chapter with a family of their very own. ❤️
For now, I’ll soak up every cuddle, every silly moment and every little milestone, knowing I’m helping give them the fresh start they deserve.
My first foster dogs, my first foster heartbreak waiting to happen, and two very special reminders of why I chose this journey. 🐾❤️
I may have opened my home to Emily and Tate, but they’ve given me so much in return. I’m so proud of them, so grateful to be part of their journey, and so excited for the loving families who will one day call them their own.
Until then, they have a safe place to land, a home full of love and a foster mum cheering them on every step of the way. 🏡💕
