π National Volunteer Week Spotlight β Meet Pete π
Weβre proud to recognise Pete, one of the familiar and friendly faces at Carers and Disability Linkβs Op Shop. πποΈ
Pete has been volunteering with CADL since 2012, an incredible 13 years of dedication to supporting the community! π
When asked what he enjoys most about volunteering, Pete says it gets him out of the house, keeps him busy, and gives him the chance to connect with others. He especially enjoys chatting with customers and socialising with members of the community. π¬π
Pete also completed a Certificate III in Retail, so working in a shop environment is something he genuinely loves. Outside of volunteering, he enjoys travelling around South Australia and Australia, often heading off on day trips whenever he gets the chance π
For anyone considering volunteering, Pete says:
β¨ βItβs a great way to connect with people and keep your brain active if you canβt work anymore. You know what they say, βif you donβt use it, youβll lose it!ββ
After more than a decade at the Op Shop, Pete says one of his favourite parts has simply been meeting people from all walks of life:
π βIβve seen everything at my time at the Op Shop!β
Thank you, Pete, for your humour, dedication, and the positivity you bring to the Op Shop and our community each week. π
This year's theme is "Your Year to Volunteer." If you have been considering Volunteering, or want to discuss options in our Op Shop, please reach out to us on 08 8562400, [email protected] or visit our website www.carersanddisabilitylink.support
