Australian creators are not bargaining chips in trade negotiations.

The works of artists, songwriters, authors, filmmakers, producers and journalists are the backbone of Australia’s $68 billion creative industry — and part of our cultural identity on the world stage.

Creators deserve consent, control and fair compensation for their intellectual property. The Government must hold the line on copyright law.

Huge news from the 2026 Ivor Novello Awards! 🏆

Lily Allen has been awarded the Outstanding Song Collection, while Rosalía has taken home International Songwriter of the Year at this year’s Ivors. 💞

We wanted to give a special shout-out to the APRA AMCOS members who contributed to their recent albums and helped shape these award-winning artists' projects.

Lily Allen’s latest album West End Girl, nominated for Best Album at the 2026 Ivors — featured major contributions from KITO and Leroy Clampitt 🤩

For Kito, the project marked a major milestone, co-producing multiple tracks and earning her first executive producer credit.

Leroy Clampitt, a Grammy-nominated songwriter and APRA AMCOS Billion Streams honouree, contributed to ‘Sleep Walking’, ‘Pussy Palace’, ‘Beg For Me’ and ‘Fruity Loop’, alongside vocal production across the record.

And shout out to LA-based writer and producer Jake Alexander Miller, who contributed co-writing, production, arranging and engineering to Rosalía’s album LUX.

Big congratulations to these members for being part of the recent works of two Ivor-winning artists 👏

Reports this week suggest the Government may be willing to reopen copyright law as part of negotiations with AI companies.

Organisations representing Australia’s creative and content industries — across music, screen, literature, publishing, visual arts and news media — have one clear message for the Australian Government: hold the line.

The creative works of Australian artists, songwriters, composers, recording artists, authors, writers, filmmakers, producers and journalists are not bargaining chips in a trade negotiation.

They are the backbone of a $68 billion industry and the essence of Australia’s cultural identity on the world stage. They're the intellectual property of individual Australians who deserve consent, control and fair compensation.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Peter Archer - songwriter, guitarist, vocalist and founding member of influential Sydney band, Crow.

Emerging in the early 1990s, Crow were widely regarded as one of the country’s most compelling alternative acts. After joining APRA in 1990, Archer and the band went on to write their 1993 album My Kind of Pain, which earned an ARIA nomination and featured hit singles like “Railhead” and “Never Said”.

Across his career, Archer helped shape a catalogue that saw the band share stages with local and global superstars including Jeff Buckley, Nick Cave and Nirvana, leaving a lasting imprint on Australia’s independent music community. He departed the band in the late ‘90s to relocate to Melbourne and focus on his own project, Odette.

Following a long hiatus, the band reunited in recent years with their mid-1990s line-up, and earlier this year announced their return with their first new album in 15 years, Hold Sway. The album’s second single, “Skyline”, co-written and sung by Archer, stands as a recent testament to his enduring creative voice.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends and with the many in our community who were touched by his music.
