Connecting residents with the support they need 💚

Residents of one of our over-55 communities recently attended an information session with Footprints Community to learn about their Care Finder service.

Care Finders work alongside individuals to help them understand, access and navigate aged care services, whether they are seeking support for the first time or need help finding new services as their needs change.

Thank you to Footprints for sharing this valuable information and helping our residents better understand the support available to them.

♻️🧃Turning containers into community impact.

Since launching our Containers for Change QLD account, our team has been busy collecting eligible bottles and cans in the office and turning everyday recycling into Bincoin.

It's proof that those containers really do add up. What might seem like spare change can become something meaningful when people come together behind a good cause.

Every container donated helps grow the BHC Impact Fund, supporting residents wellbeing initiatives while keeping recyclable materials out of landfill. It's a simple idea with a big impact, and thanks to the support of our staff and community, the momentum is growing.

What to get involved?
Next time you visit a Containers for Change drop off point, donate your refund to BHC using our member number.

Every bottle, can and carton counts. Together we're recycling impact into real impact.

This week, we welcomed more than 50 students from The University of Queensland’s Advanced Architectural Design program for a tour of two of our Woolloongabba developments, including one currently under construction.

Students had the opportunity to learn directly from the BHC team, alongside partners from KO&Co Architecture, COX Architecture and Buildcorp, gaining valuable insights into the design, delivery and social impact of our projects.

Experiences like these provide a meaningful opportunity to connect with the next generation of architects and demonstrate how thoughtful, people-focused design can help create stronger communities and better housing outcomes.

The tour also provided an opportunity to showcase the partnerships that make affordable housing developments possible, including support from the Queensland Government, Australian Retirement Trust, Housing Australia and the BHC-QIC Consortium.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a valuable learning experience!

We were delighted to welcome Madonna Jarrett MP to Bowen Court this week for a morning tea with residents. The visit provided an opportunity for Madonna to hear firsthand about residents’ experiences, including the impacts of cost-of-living pressures and their health priorities.

During the visit, we were also pleased to provide a tour of the property and showcase the important role social and affordable housing plays in supporting our community.

Thank you, Madonna, for taking the time to visit Bowen Court and listen to our residents.

Bowen Court was delivered in partnership with the Queensland Government, and we value the ongoing support for projects that provide safe, secure and affordable homes.

We were pleased to welcome Federal Member for Griffith, Renee Coffey MP, to our Woolloongabba development last week.

The visit provided an opportunity to see construction progress firsthand and learn more about how this project will help address housing need in inner Brisbane.

Once complete, the development will deliver 81 new social and affordable homes, creating a vibrant mixed-tenure community close to jobs, services and public transport.

Delivered through the BHC-QIC Consortium, with funding support from the Queensland Government, institutional investment from Australian Retirement Trust and financing from Housing Australia, this project demonstrates what can be achieved through strong partnerships.

Thank you to Renee for taking the time to visit, and to Buildcorp Group and our BHC team members for sharing their knowledge and helping bring the project to life.

To make residents make most of the school holidays, we hosted a community BBQ for our Inala properties yesterday filled with great food and plenty opportunities to connect.

Residents enjoyed free barista-made coffee and hot chocolate from Substation33’s solar-powered coffee trailer, a BBQ lunch and a creative activity for the children. We were also pleased to welcome HUB Neighbourhood Centre Inala and Queensland Police Service, who spent time connecting with residents.

Thanks to the support from the Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust, we are able to continue to deliver our Coffee Connections program, helping to create opportunities for community engagement.

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make this a fantastic day of connection, conversation and community!
