Tamworth Evening CWA The CWA is the largest women's organisation in Australia and aims to improve conditions for country women and children. We reach that aim in various ways.

The CWA are a group of women involved in lobbying for change, helping the local community and creating an inclusive social network. The Tamworth Evening Branch is keen to provide the opportunity for women who are unable to access the traditional day time meetings to be involved in this wonderful organisation. We meet at the a Tamworth Hotel on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm. Meetings are open to anyone who is interested and new members are welcome.

What a great time we had on Saturday, February 21st, for our Branch Cookery Day! 😀

This was an opportunity to get together to judge our remaining cookery sections that hadn't already been judged throughout the year at our branch meetings, including Coconut Loaf Cake, Peppermint Slice, Tomato Jam, Alice's Fancy Biscuits, Sultana Cake, Coffee Sponge, and more.

Lots of useful feedback was shared, and lots of yummy treats were sampled. It was particularly exciting to see some of our new members participating in the competition!

Congratulations to all the first- and second-place winners who will be proceeding to the next round of The Land Cookery Competition, competing at our Group Cookery & Handicrafts Day on Saturday, 7th March, alongside the other branches from Wanthella Group.

A big thank you to the inimitable Kylie Burkinshaw from CWA of NSW Terrigal Evening Branch, who lent us her time and wisdom in judging our entries.

Another big thank you to Kylie Reading for graciously hosting at her lovely home for the morning.

Every year, the Country Women's Association (CWA) of NSW holds its annual State Conference, where motions are debated for inclusion in the Association’s policy platform for the next 12 months.

Oftentimes, these motions end up becoming national policy after much lobbying by the CWA.

This motion from 1993 is a great example. In 2016, new Country of Origin Labelling laws were introduced, showing clearly whether food was made or grown in Australia and the percentage of Australian-made/grown ingredients used.

We call that a big win! 🇦🇺
