Jeremy Wilson, the WA Museum’s Curator of Arachnids, is sharing why trapdoor spiders are among Australia’s most ancient and diverse animal groups, yet most people will never see one (hopefully).

Hidden beneath our feet, they construct intricate burrows, often spending their entire lives within a remarkably small patch of country.

✨ Celebrating the flavours and stories of the Goldfields ✨

This week, we brought together our 12 incredible winners, their families, community leaders, partners and local media for the Goldfields Bush Cooking Competition Sundowner - a joyful celebration of creativity, culture and connection.

From dishes featuring local plants, seeds and bush foods to the stories passed down through generations, the afternoon highlighted the rich food traditions that make the Goldfields so special. Winners had their dishes professionally photographed before joining us on the front lawn of the Museum of the Goldfields for a relaxed evening of conversation, community and shared pride. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part in this six week competition - your passion, generosity and creativity made this event truly unforgettable. 🌿❤️
