Last week, Dr Adele Pentland, Project Officer in Palaeontology visited the Museum of Geraldton for a public talk on Australia’s Pterosaurs. 🔬⛏️Globally, pterosaur fossils are exceptionally rare compared with dinosaurs and marine reptiles, making every discovery incredibly important. Thanks, Adele, for your presentation at this sold-out event, This research was made possible by Woodside Energy the WA Museum and the Foundation for the WA Museum.

The Goldfields Bush Cooking Competition is looking for recipes celebrating the flavours, stories and traditions of the region. Create a dish using a local ingredient such as quandong, saltbush, honeysuckle or silky pear, then share the recipe and the story behind it.

Twelve winners will each receive a $500 voucher, with selected entries also included in a community recipe collection.

The Goldfields Bush Cooking Competition celebrates local flavours, family traditions and the unique local ingredients of the region. Whether your recipe has been passed down through generations or is a contemporary creation inspired by local produce, we want to hear your story.

Join Professor Dan Wildcat, a Yuchi member of the Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma, for an insightful conversation on Indigenous knowledge, culture, climate and education. Renowned scholar Professor Dan Wildcat brings decades of groundbreaking work to this insightful talk, exploring the intersection of Indigenous knowledge, technology, environment and education.

Drawing on history, personal experience and extensive research, Professor Wildcat will explore how modern society has become increasingly distanced from land, air and water, and why Indigenous ways of knowing offer vital guidance in responding to today’s environmental challenges.

In conversation with Professor James Arvanitakis, Director of the Forrest Research Foundation, Professor Wildcat will discuss his wide-ranging work across community, academia and research, and reflect on how Indigenous knowledge can shape how we think about climate, sustainability, culture and the Anthropocene.
