Celebrating Indigenous Women in Business

What an inspiring morning of connection, insight and empowerment!

Today, QIBN's Jenny and Bryanna attended the First Nations Women's Business Gathering, hosted by Sisters Our Way.

The morning brought together First Nations women in business for meaningful conversations around corporate and government procurement, business readiness, recognising your worth and the importance of valuing what you bring to the table.

We were fortunate to hear from an all-star line-up of speakers, including Rina Abbott-Jard (Modal Planning), Kira Seeley and Jasmin Pambid (Heart to Harvest), and Rochelle Pitt (Bushceuticals and Solmuma).

We also gained valuable procurement insights from Sharleen Airs (BHP), Thomas Po***ck (Gov Ready), Michelle Creevey (Purpose Procurement) and Jacky Kljucevic (Born Digital Solutions).

Local and Connected on the Sunshine Coast!

Last Tuesday, the Queensland Indigenous Business Network (QIBN) attended the 2026 Sunshine Coast First Nations Business Showcase, celebrating Indigenous Business Month alongside First Nations businesses, industry leaders, government representatives and community.

Embracing this year's theme, Local and Connected, the Showcase brought people together to celebrate Indigenous enterprise, strengthen relationships and explore new business opportunities.

Our CEO, Paul Graham, joined fellow Indigenous business leaders Debbie Hoger (Riley Callie Resources) and Ramone Close (PLANZZ) for a panel discussion exploring the importance of connection, collaboration and supporting Indigenous businesses to thrive.

It was fantastic to see local Indigenous businesses showcasing their products, services and capabilities while connecting with prospective buyers, partners and supporters.

A big thank you to Carly Forrest and The Dreaming Collective for delivering another brilliant event, for inviting QIBN and having Paul on the panel discussion!

We look forward to continuing these conversations and strengthening connections with Indigenous businesses across Queensland.

Our first XCHANGE. The beginning of something bigger!

What an incredible day at QIBN x QUT XCHANGE 2026!

Yesterday, we brought together Indigenous businesses, corporates, government, educators and QUT students to connect, collaborate and share knowledge as part of Indigenous Business Month.

A huge thank you to everyone who made our inaugural XCHANGE possible!

QUT – for your ongoing partnership, with special thanks to Emma White, Professor Sharon Christensen, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law, and the QUT staff who supported the event throughout the day.

This morning, QIBN CEO Paul Graham attended the official launch of Indigenous Business Month 2026, joining Indigenous businesses, community and supporters to kick off a month celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses across Australia.

This year’s theme, Local and Connected, recognises the strength of Indigenous businesses grounded in Country, community, local knowledge and strong relationships.

For QIBN, it’s a fitting way to begin a big October as we continue connecting with Indigenous businesses across Queensland and creating opportunities to strengthen relationships with government, industry and each other.

We’re looking forward to a huge Indigenous Business Month ahead! 🙌🏽

The formal recognition of QIBN’s Indigenous Business Gateway under the Queensland Procurement Policy 2026 means greater visibility and stronger pathways to procurement opportunities for verified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses across Queensland.

This is what we’ve been working towards, wanting to make it easier for buyers to find our businesses and helping our Members be ready for the opportunities ahead.
