Today is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.

Human trafficking, a form of modern slavery, is a serious crime in Australia. But help is available.

No matter your age, gender, s*xuality, ethnicity, culture, religion, or visa status — you have rights, and you can access support.

As one part of our service delivery in Victoria, Project Respect provides support to women and gender diverse people who have experienced s*xual exploitation, through case coordination, and through specialised s*xual violence counselling.

To access our support, you can:

📱 Call, text or WhatsApp on 0477 001 110

🕘 Tuesday to Friday, 9am–5pm (leave a message outside these hours for a callback)

You can also contact the Additional Referral Pathway (ARP), who can provide an assessment, and assist eligible people with a referral to the Support for Trafficked People Program (a program delivered by Australian Red Cross). These programs are delivered throughout Australia.

If you're looking for this kind of support, you can contact the ARP between 9am - 5pm on all business days through a central phone number, which will be answered by a practitioner working with The Salvation Army ARP team, on 1800 000 277.

🔴 Please note, neither us nor the ARP is a crisis response service.
If you need urgent support outside of our hours, you can contact:
📞 1800RESPECT – 1800 737 732
📞 Lifeline – 13 11 14
🚨 In an emergency, please call 000.

⚠️ Community Public Service Announcement ⚠️
Wesnet have complied safety information about the upcoming introduction of AusAlert.

On July 27 (2pm Victorian time) an impossible-to-miss alarm will sound on all active mobile devices.

If you, or someone you know have a hidden safety phone: plan ahead, consider leaving the phone with a friend or a secure place.

During this test, all compatible mobile phones, tablets and smart watches will emit a loud siren and vibration for around 10 seconds - even if set to silent or do not disturb, and phones without a SIM card.

👀To stop the alert before the test: 👀
🌟Turn off your mobile devices at least an hour before
🌟Or switch them to aeroplane mode
🌟Leave them off for at least 24 hours after the test concludes.

This week is NAIDOC week!

This NAIDOC week celebrates 50 years of Deadly: A tribute to the people who built the NAIDOC movement. This week we honour the elders who kept culture and community at the centre of the NAIDOC movement, the organisers who fought for space and the communities who have been showing up year after year to protest, celebrate and honour resistance.

To read more about the history, local events and the NAIDOC movement, visit www.naidoc.org.au.

Project Respect acknowledges all first peoples of the lands on which we work and live, and celebrate their enduring knowledge and connections to country.

All ways was, always will be. Still deadly, always.

This week is Refugee week!

This week is a celebration of the welcome of people from all parts of the globe - people who have helped to build modern Australia.

The theme of "A million stories" reflects the milestone of Australia having issued one million permanent humanitarian visas since 1947, and the rich, woven tapestries of stories over that time that shape our communities.

You can find out more information from the coordinator of refugee week, the Refugee Council of Australia, at Refugee Week and Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA)

This month we celebrate diversity and promote inclusion, not just within the LGBTIQA+ community, but across Australian society as a whole.

At Project Respect we continue to work hard to ensure our service is safe and welcoming for the LGBTQIA+ community, including the trans community, whether as service users, participants in community events, or as members of staff ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
