Thank you, Mick Davey Butchers 🙏

A huge shout out to MDB for backing The Blokehood Project. They've helped feed the boys at every camp so far in Geraldton, and that kind of local support makes a real difference. When a group of young men spends three days pushing themselves, growing and building real connection, good food matters.

It gets better. One of the young men who joined us at camp earlier this year went back to his place of work after camp and secured his apprenticeship with MDB. That's what happens when a community backs its young people.

Two camps in. Now they're stepping up. 🧢

Today we sat down with two of our The Blokehood Project alumni who are coming back to the next camp as our first Peer Leaders.

They know what it's like to arrive on day one not knowing anyone. Now they'll be the ones welcoming the new boys, going first when it gets real, and backing the facilitators all camp long.

They'll be wearing the cap and the shirt, and representing what The Blokehood Project stands for.

This is what it's all about: young men growing into leaders, then turning around to help the next ones through.

Flashback to the first camp, my father joined, alongside my two nephews.

Three generations, one fire, the same conversations men have been having for a long time before us.

Happy Father's Day to every dad who shows up, to his own son, or to someone else's. To every father who comes to camp not for his own boy, but to support others.

Not just today, but in the moments that actually matter, let's keep sitting with the young men in our lives, ours or someone else's, and walking with them through this world.

No phones. No distractions. Just a fire, a few honest questions, and boys starting to open up in ways they don't at home.

This is where a lot of the real work happens at camp, not in a structured session, but sitting around a fire with the group.

Almost every culture in human history marked the passage from boy to man with something deliberate, a ceremony, a challenge, a community that showed up to say “you are becoming something new, and we see it.”

Modern Australian life doesn't really have that. There's no clear line. No moment. Just a slow drift from childhood into adulthood that most boys navigate alone, without anyone actually naming what's happening to them.

That absence isn't a failure of any individual parent, it's a gap in the culture itself. Boys have always needed a structured path and a community of men to walk it with them. Most just don't get one anymore.

We think about this a lot. It's the whole reason The Blokehood Project exists.
