Member Rod introduced our guest speaker Lokesh Machineni a year 11 student from Kooringal H/S. Lekesh has just returned from the Lochlear Autumn School of Engineering. He thanked our club for assisting and allowing him to attend this week long event. With the help of PowerPoint he informed us of the events of the week. They visited Engineering areas in many University in Sydney, RAAF, Airport, Motor Way Central Traffic and Nuclear Power Station. He enjoy all the areas and information he received. He was given a chance to talk to a variety of working engineers this was eye opening and cause his wavering towards Engineering. His aim is medical at the moment. After fielding some questions Member Brian on behalf of the members thanked Lokesh for his presentation and wished him all the success in the future. Brian also presented Lokesh with a certificate of appreciation in which we donate to Australian Rotary Health on his behalf.

Members Trevor and Stan attended the Kooringal H.S and cooked bacon and eggs for the Clontarf group breakfast. It is such a pleasure to do this as the boys are much appreciated of what we do. It's great to see all the posters on the walls of their achievements. This shows that the program is not wasted on these boys.

4 members attended our casual morning tea at the Kooringal Mall. The coffee and treats were greatly enjoyed by all. Plenty of fellowship and conversation. No major improvements achieved with in Australia or the world but added some interesting ideas. Thanks to those who attended. 13 members attended our casual meal and fellowship gathering at the Ashmont Hotel. I was an apology so thanks to Greg for the photos. It was our first time since new owners so I hope everyone enjoyed there meal and I know they would have enjoyed the fellowship. Also thanks again to Greg for organising the event.

Members Phillip & Stan from the Rotary Club of Kooringal attended the Kooringal H.S cooking breakfast of eggs & bacon for the Clontarf group. The boys & staff are greatly appreciative of our effort. Everyone of them take the time to shake our hands & thank us, it is very satisfying & worthwhile.

Member Malcolm introduced our guest speaker. Will Corboy our assisted attendee at RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards). Will thanked the club for allowing him to go to RYLA. He told us of all the activities and events that he attend while there. He was impressed by the variety of guest speakers as well as the exercises that they had to do. Some of there topics that they had to speak about AI, Problem solving & Rotary Health. A some of highlights of the week are the Gala dinner, Trivia night, Awards & farewell dinner. Will came away with improved speaking & greater personal development. After fielding questions Member Wayne on behalf of the members thanked Will for his presentation and presented him with a certificate of appreciation in which we donate to Australian Rotary Health on his behalf.

The Rotary Club of Kooringal welcomed Bungandore Rotarians Colin & Anne Elder who while travelling home stopped overnight in Wagga Wagga. Colin gave us a run-down on his Rotary Club. Informing us that they have 42 members. This gave them the District most membership improvement award, this occurred mainly during Covid because they took the towns people to heart and help out when it was possible. Most of there fundraising come from bottle & Can collection, they also do parking & catering at the local show & rodeo and organise the Iga BBQ as well as other events.
They thank use for our hospitality & fellowship. We the members enjoyed there visit. Thanks for considering us & you would be welcome any time.

Member Greg introduced our guest speaker David Brennan from Carevan.
David noted his work in Rural Industries, retiring to Wagga and that has led to heading up the crew at Carevan for about the last five years. He gave us a very interesting and comprehensive talk on Carevan including a lot of details that are very well laid out in a short online Google article under Carevan Wagga History – well worth looking at.
A few highlighted points in summary of points of interest:
· Carevan is a local charity established in 2018
· Carevan’s mission is to combat homelessness, food insecurity, and social isolation through the provision of free home- cooked meals to financially disadvantaged individuals and families.
· Founded by Lynne Graham and a local support team.
· Following a number of homes a Warehouse and Extension was developed over 2020- 2023 in Fernleigh Road South Wagga with a commercial kitchen, office spaces, freezer rooms and a cottage garden
· Providing over 600 meals a week for a range of other charities to disperse the meals to deserving clients
·Over 90 volunteers – who do meals, cooking, clerical work, driving etc etc including some from Rotary Club of Kooringal. They are increasingly hard to come by!
· One paid operations manager
· There are designated regional hubs and over a dozen agencies involved
· Serves many needy and homeless people with often multiple physical and mental health issues and challenges.
After fielding questions, Member Brian on behalf of the members thanked David for his presentation.
President Ray in closing paid tribute to the many good caring people on Wagga, and Carevan has many of them.
