Noosa Council's Fire Management and Disaster Management teams are inviting members of the Peregian Beach and broader Noosa and Sunshine Coast community to their drop in event on Sunday 18th October 2026.

Last month marked seven years since the 2019 Peregian fire, an event which both challenged and united our community, agencies, land managers and emergency services.

As we head into what El Niño projections indicate could be a challenging bushfire season, this casual drop-in event is an opportunity to come together to reflect on lessons learnt, what's been happening since and how we can and are preparing for the seasons to come.

The teams look forward to catching up at what promises to be a relaxed, friendly and informative afternoon down the beach.

Get Ready Week is a reminder to prepare your family for extreme weather. Review your Bushfire Survival Plan, check your emergency kit and know where to find the latest warnings. A little preparation now can make a big difference.

This week is Get Ready Week and Queenslanders are being encouraged to prepare for extreme weather.

With a strong El Nino forecast for 2026, Queensland can expect predominantly dry conditions in the coming weeks and months.

These conditions can increase the risk of bushfire and create challenging conditions for firefighters across large parts of the state.

Get Ready Week serves as a timely reminder to make sure you and your family are prepared for whatever Queensland weather throws at you.

Take the time to review your Bushfire Survival Plan, check your emergency kit and make sure you know where to find the latest warnings and information.

Noosaville library will be closed on 26th October to 15th November for a roof upgrade

📚 Noosaville Library Temporary Closure for Roof Upgrade

We're investing in the future of Noosaville Library through a major roof replacement and solar panel upgrade, helping to ensure the library continues to serve our community for many years to come.

🔨 Noosaville Library will be temporarily closed from Monday 26 of October to Sunday 15 of November.

During the closure you can:

📚 Visit Cooroy Library, with extended weekend opening hours
🚐 Use the Mobile Library, including additional stops in Tewantin Monday to Wednesday
💻 Access our eLibrary 24/7 for eBooks, eAudiobooks, digital magazines, movies and online resources from home or on the go
📦 Return items at Cooroy Library, the Mobile Library, or the temporary returns chute (located on the footpath between the Noosaville library and Leisure Centre, adjacent to the 5-minute drop-off parking area).

Please note that Library of Things borrowing will be paused during the closure. Our team will also remain available to assist with heritage enquiries and support.
