Yes, we still want a birth centre separate from a hospital in Canberra!!

Thousands of us signed a petition for one, and we celebrated, because we thought it was on the way.

The ACT Government has just admitted they have no plans to build one 😯 join the campaign to change their minds and expand the options available to women and birthing people in Canberra 🫶

Hi All, the 'ACT for Birth' advocacy group are looking for consumers who would like to share their stories with the media on why we need more rooms in the proposed new North Canberra Hospital birth centre, and more capacity in the continuity midwifery led model of care in the future of ACT maternity services. Are there consumers out there who wanted to access the birth centre program and couldn't because it was at capacity? Comment below if you'd like to chat more about this opportunity.

Would you like your gorgeous bub to appear in our 2024 fundraising calendar?

Please submit 1 photo of your baby by no later than 20 November 2023.

Your photo can be of just yoir baby or they can be of your baby with mum, your midwife, their siblings... whatever photo you would enjoy seeing in the calendar.

Please include: Bubs first name, date of birth, and the name of your continuity midwife or the birth Centre where you birthed.

We look forward to seeing all your beautiful babies in print.

Hello all our Friends of the Birth Centres!

We need you!

We desperately need volunteers to take on the picnic and calendar for this year. You won't be doing it alone but our very small pool of volunteers can't keep up with this ourselves.

We need to find someone to:
- coordinate the picnic - arrange for the Lions club to do the BBQ, set up on the day, purchase and sell drinks on the day, sell calendars on the day...
The Picnic is traditionally on the first Friday of December but the date is ultimately up to the person who takes on coordination.

- coordinate the calendar production, find a graphic designer, do call outs for photos, collate names from the Birth Centres, edit and cross reference names in draft calendar, source printing quotes, collect printed calendars, manage postal orders.

If any of these jobs sound like something you could do, please get in touch.
