I just had another older man call about the homeless people that he meets & helps in the town that he loves.
He had a target as to whom was to blame.
That's 3 men in 5days!. The first 2 men seem to patrol their parks harrass, bully and report anyone found camping on crown land, even disabled 1st nations people which honestly floored me.
There has always been homelessness. They use to be called swaggies, drifters moving around looking for opportunities like accomadation, work, a hot meal. My grandmother use to give them beds on the verandah, some slept in sheds.
Migration is happening all around the world. People are moving trying to improve their lives.
Decades ago people would have been camping along a river or billabong now there around public toilets and taps.
Poverty is distressing to see, its even harder to endure. Most women are on the brink of tears without middle aged men visiting them daily throwing vollies of demands at them.
Lets try and be more tolerant to people's plight.
Most people dont stay long, and there doesn't need to be anti social behaviour. Everyone is entitled to feel safe and enjoy their suburbs.

This week I was invited to morning tea at the Maroochydore RSL, where I was pleasantly surprised to be one of the recipients in their $100,000 community grant round — alongside many other incredible local organisations.

To say I was thrilled is an understatement. I was absolutely blown away and had to fight back tears. This $10,000 grant will go directly toward helping genuine people in need across our community — providing tents, clothing, bedding, mobile showers, and whatever essential items are needed in the moment.

A huge thank you to the Maroochydore RSL for recognising the work we do and for investing in dignity, safety, and practical support for those doing it tough. This will make a real difference.

I also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supports this work — whether you’ve donated, shared a post, dropped off supplies, or simply cheered us on. None of this happens without you. Your kindness keeps people safe, warm, and seen, and this grant will stretch even further because of the community standing behind it.🙏

🌧️ A small win worth celebrating

Now that QLD courts are finally recognising that every person has a human right to shelter — a right no one can take away or ban them from — I decided to celebrate the only way I know how.

By getting straight back out there and buying more tents.

Because while the legal system catches up, people are still sleeping in car parks, bushland, industrial estates and anywhere they can find a patch of ground. And until everyone has safe, stable housing, a tent can be the difference between surviving the night or not.

Human rights aren’t abstract. They’re practical. They’re immediate.
And today, they look like this:
🟢 New tents ready to go to people who need them.

Small steps. Real impact. Dignity in action.
